I'd played through KotOR I twice before and had had no problems getting the various character sidequests to spawn, but on this occassion, Jagi (Canderous' sidequest character) just wouldn't show up, despite having exhausted all the conversations with him.

In my first two playthroughs, he'd showed up on Manaan (which is always the third planet I go to after Dantooine - I either do Tattooine, Kashyyyk then Manaan, or Kashyyyk, Dantooine, then Manaan), but not this time. I'd done all the usual - running on and off the Hawk in an attempt to make him spawn, but he stubbornly refused to appear.

Earlier, when I'd arrived on Dantooine after talking to Mission about her brother, I'd decided to investigate the starport shop first (it's the one run by two Twi'leks just to the right of the Hawk as you disembark). To my surprise, Lena (Mission's sidequest character) was in there. When I clicked to talk to her, her cutscene triggered and it acted as though we were just outside the ship.

So, I figured I'd try Dantooine again with Canderous. Sure enough, Jagi was chilling in the shop. As with Lena, talking to him triggered his cutscene. I'd exhausted all Canderous' war stories while on Dantooine, so I figured he spawned there, ready for me to find him, and this is possibly why he wasn't on any of the other worlds.

So, if you are having trouble getting a certain quest character to spawn, check out the starport shop on Dantooine - you might just find them there.
