Well, i love animals and fantasy creatures! lol Here are some drawings of various creatures!

Little kitty

Based on a pic i've taken of a cute little kitty. ^_^

Drawn in November 2008 with pencil.

Neqa'el

Info: Greek and Egyptian cat demons. These demons are menacing and threatening, but fight only when necessary. They are Egyptian gods and were worshiped heavily, especially by secret assassin sects across Egypt. Anyone who sought to do any harm to a cat was punished with a month-long torture that eventually ended in death as punishment for offending these gods. The demon in human form has long canine teeth, and a fierce and quick tongue. The sun god Ra was said to have spawned from the Neqa'el's saliva. One of the largest remaining temples to the Neqa'el is located 300 miles south of Faiyum. (Wordie)

I really worked hard on this one, trying to make a realistic furry texture. I love how it turned out!

Made in November 2008 with pencil.

Ceryneian Hind

Info: The Ceryneian Hind, also called Cerynitis, was an enormous hind sacred to Artemis, the chaste goddess of the hunt and moon. It had golden antlers like a stag and hooves of bronze or brass, and it was said that it could outrun an arrow in flight. The capture of the hind was one of The Twelve Labours of Heracles. (wikipedia)

I really enjoyed drawing this one! :D

Made in November 2008 by digital coloring my sketch.

Thanks Aliya! :) Now that you say it, i should have made them a bit more symmetrical...
Btw, i'm not sure it the kitty is female, but i guess there's no harm to suppose she is...lol

Hmmm, nice. The head, despite it's asymmetries, I think is the best part. The rest could IMO use a furrier texture.

Thanks WeeR, i think that's my great weakness. I find it quite hard to make realistic furry textures with pencil.... Does anyone know any good tutorial on that?

This kitty looks really cute. ^_^ Great pose and head looks good either, though it maybe is asymetrical, but it doesn't strike on the first eyesight, so don't worry.

And the fur isn't that hard to draw, especialy with pencil. It all bases on drawing many short lines in specific areas of animal's body, especially on the "edges". The lines usually should go in direction from the head to the back, and from the upper, to lower parts.Hmm I don't know how to say it clearer. You may look to this picture for evidence. That's the way I handle with that. Well, that should be all from Aunty Agony advices. ^^'

The best way to practice could be taking a photo of an animal, have it on the screen of your pc and try to draw it on your sheet of paper. Cuz animals just don't know how to pose long enough for you to draw!!!

Oh, and Epantiras, you're simply Epantirastic.

I'd have to disagree with Epantiras here; for learning anatomy, reference drawing is great, t3h best.
But since drawing fur does not to my knowledge consist so much of trying to copy the real thing as creating an illusion of it, it might be a better idea to start with cartoony simplifications, first figuring the basic outline figures of it and then proceeding towards more and more realism.

Feel free to disagree of course. :]

Thank you Lythari! ^_^ Your information is very helpful! I'll try it as soon as i'll make another kitty! :D

LOl! You're so true Epantiras! Those little sweeties find it hard to pose for you... Unless you have a something that they want (food) or a mood to play games or something... So a photo would be the best way!

Well, i agree with WeeR about the difficulty level of realism. Cartoony simpifications are a good start! But on the other hand, i think i'll also follow Epantiras advice, so i'll try them both!

Nice picture - my biggest problem is the legs. It looks like the cat is a bit triangular in shape, that way.

Thank you Choo Choo! :D I guess the kitty was shy to my camera so it took that pose!

Oh, wait, now I see it. It's drawn from above, that's why the legs seem so small in comparison to the body. xD Sorry 'bout that! The front legs should be moved back a little, I think that would solve the problem. And that white on the same level as the legs make it look like its stomach is attatched to the front paws.

But, hey, that's a better drawing than I'd ever manage. I'm limited to stick figures. And MS paint.

Well, i don't blame you, it's a strange pose! I guess the shading needs some extra work, but IMO it has to do a great deal with the furry. I'm practicing on the furry and maybe if i greatly improve it, i'll have a more natural and less messy shading...
Anyway thank you so much for your advices! And your words are an honour to me! But i'm sure you can create a better drawing! Just practice!
Say to youself: "Interesting....you have much untapped power, it's time for more experiments...." :D and start your art saga! :D

I agree! The texture is much improved! :D
Looking good overall. :)

A few of the background swirlies could be maybe a hint smoother, and there's a slight silly looking bulge above the cat's left front 'shoulder', but aside that, real nice, man! :D

Thanks WeeR! A big credit for that progress goes to your critique! I noticed that slight bulge only when it was too late, but i guess it isn't something critical, because it still looks great! You really have a great "art eye"! So, your help is always welcome!

Yeah, much furrier than your last. I am not expert on art (or on anything much really) but it is easy to see the great improvement in your art.

In other words, GOOD JOB!
