The species is called Togruta. :)

The "tails" however aren't part of their actual bodies - it's a head-dress worn by togrutas who had been able to kill an akul by themselves.

As long as there are no Gungans in it. :D
Personally I'm going to withhold judgement until I know more.
As for MMOs, I was a long term UO player and got sick of seeing my friends drift away to other games over time. I have a deepseated hatred of WoW for that reason.
You can't argue with the WoW juggernaut, though. I think the only game that can compete with it is something in another genre, and a Star Wars MMO has a shot. Will it get 11 million? Doubtful, but you never know. I trust Bioware, since they've consistently delivered games I want to play. But EA...hrmm. We'll see I guess.

Btw, on a related but different topic, can someone tell me what flavour of alien those red and white guys with the head tails are? There's one on the SW:TOR page, and there was a youngling one in Attack of the Clones. They looks kinda like Twileks in clown paint.

I think your referring to a Togrunta http://starwars.wiki...m/wiki/Shaak_Ti or possibly http://starwars.wiki...ki/Aayla_Secura

Kind of off-topic though....

Yes, those are the chaps (Togruta that is). Wookiepedia seems to suggest the head tails and horny bits are part of them, rather than a headdress, though. Anyway... Just curious, is all. :)
I guess they may be a playable race in SW:TOR, if the artwork is anything to go by. I'm wondering what else will be in there. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Aaah.. yes, now I see. I misread, sorry - the horns and tail-like things are part of them and the akul-tooth headdress is more like a piece of jewellery.

Don't worry about the inevitable... and that already happened in SW Galaxies.

And this is why I tend to hate MMOs. I've try to give them a chance, but people inevitably end up ruining a lot of the experience. GW helped to get past that in that when leaving town you were left alone(unless grouping) but too many MMOs seem to be based around a group idea, even if in lore that doesn't make sense. (How many jedi ran around with bounty hunters and scoundrels and soldiers anyways? Master and apprentice... and a whole plethora of other people? (This is of course not counting the Clone Wars. That was War. On just about anything less, they worked alone.)

"Story driven" and "real party based" concepts are imcompatible. At least in C(RP)G. Not to mention casual unprofessional players who seems to make the majority of MMO population.

I stuck with UO for so long because we had a decent RP community on my server, and we basically did our own thing. Thing with UO was that it wasn't level based, but skill based, so you weren't constantly grinding. A noob character could go out hunting with a maxed out character (some of the level-based games I've seen force you to group with people of your own level or thereabouts), so guild events were easy to do. More to the point, you could pootle about on your own if you felt like it - certain areas were inadvisible for solo characters but the vast majority of places were manageable, depending on what skills you had.
UO might be outdated now, but it had one of the most flexible systems and made it very easy to play with others, or play solo, and it also made it easy to roleplay. No other MMO has come close in those respects (from what I've seen of RP in WoW, it seems to consist primarily of night elves cybering each other).

Given SW:TOR is being created by Bioware Austin, it's more than possible some ex-Origin people will be working there and hopefully will bring some of the good ideas UO had to this game. I say good, because over the years some awful ideas were introduced as EA panicked about other MMOs overtaking it. The Age of Shadows expansion springs to mind... <_<

Still, they seem to have indicated that solo play is possible, so we'll see I guess. But yes, I hope they have RP servers so the LoLkiddies can be avoided.

I'm actually not that worried.

Of course, I agree with you on most points (except that PC-players are to blame - that's a very weird assessment. That's like saying console-players are to blame for all the dumbed-down RPGs. Come now, hasn't that ignorant fight lasted long enough), and even so, I'm not worried.

It's all a matter of supply and demand really, sometime this MMO-beast is gonna bite itself in the ass. It started with funcom, and it's going to happen again. Especially if WoW keeps monopolizing the market. I actually hope they do; 'cause if that's the case, then most other companies will have to face the fact that MMOs are a losing endeveaour, and move on to other genres...

So, I'm sure the future is bright. I mean, after all: All the dumbed-down RPGs such as Jade Empire (not saying the game was bad, just shallow) and similar action-RPGs, they didn't sell half as well as Baldur's Gate. The Witcher sold a HUGE amount of games compared to the expections, and that was a new baby-like company. Why? Because it took the time to tell a good story and feature nice roleplay, at the cost of some gameplay-stuff. This is exactly what the business has told was impossible, which is why everyone today focuses on shiny and polished games with little content.

An RPG at Baldur's Gate's level will come, simply because it will make money. It's just a matter of when the, well, less intelligent people, of the gaming industry figure that out.

Do we deserve a sequel? You damn right we do.

I have to say that I've never really understood this kind of sentiment (I'm not picking on you particularly; lots of people say similar things). Why do we "deserve" anything in particular? I might regret the absence of a KOTOR 3, but it's not obvious that anyone has a moral obligation to assuage that regret.

Well for one the fans made them millions of dollars with the series, that's reason alone. From the start if they were just going to make two KotOR's and abandon the story I had grown attached to wouldn't have jumped on board at all. KotOR really made me a Star Wars fan, I didn't really know anything or care about it much, just seeing the old movies like everybody else. So to me its like making Episode IV and V then skipping Return of the Jedi and moving on 20 years later to Episode I...I'm sure that would piss a few people off lol.

We deserve a end to the story, if Revan and Exile are just left in limbo by LucasArts it'll tarnish the series, like KotOR II everythings very much unfinished. But I really don't care about KotOR anymore, the series is dead to me now, unless things change and I see a KotOR III I'm done with the franchise...I just wanted everyone to see the hilarity my comments produced heh, heh.
