Of course, a real heroic piece would need to be of fairly high quality to be as interesting as silly mockery with, let's say, stick figures. .p

Not necessarily. The Order of the Stick manages to be fairly epic here and there while being, well, stick figures. :)

Draw me an epic and dramatic stick-Elminster fighting against anything (within the scope of epic & dramatic) and I'll repent. ^^

And winning! Otherwise it doesn't float, count or work ^^

Since I'm hilariously bad at resisting challenges I gave it a try. I got to admit, it's friggin' hard. Not to mention time-consuming, the piece below took over an hour. Because of the time and the fact that it didn't look particularly epic, I gave up. I maintain that stick figures and other simplistic styles can be epic and/or heroic though. I'm just not the guy to do it. ;)

Anyhow, I know it ain't stick figures but it's certainly simplistic to a similar degree.

Finally, Elminster would've won if I only had the patience to finish it. :D

And I'll maintain that OOTS has things other than stick figures going for it to make it dramatic every now and then. It's a story. .p

Good try though, shows you have the spirit of the warrior! :D
But why does the skeleton have a moustache? O_o

Most certainly. I guess I misunderstood you then, I thought you meant that stick-figure (or similar art) can't be epic, no matter the context.

But why does the skeleton have a moustache? O_o

Damn it, I noticed that myself but I hoped no one else would. :P It's supposed to be his nostrils.

...
Nostrils... on a skull? Maaannn... :D

EDIT:
Oh, right, and...

No, I don't think a single page stick figure comic would have enough time to create emotional attachements to the figures, which I think is a key ingredient in making silly looking stuff dramatic.

Well, the alternative was one big nose-hole which looked pretty messed up. Let's say it's a vain lich who's had a nose job. That should be... plausible. I think. ;)

You just had do edit your post two seconds after I pressed reply, didn't ya? :P

You could be on to something. I'm honestly not sure whether something could be epic enough without some sort of emotional investment in the characters. Then again, the same could be said about just about anything epic. If the LotR-movies started with, say, the battle of Helm's Deep, I very much doubt that would've been even half as epic as it is after we've gotten to know the Fellowship and their various pals.

Icendoan: He's so bad that his hat and pipe ran away from him? I almost feel sorry for the guy :P
Lykainon: Hah! Elminster vs Noober is great, a silence spell might have come in handy there.
Epantiras: Aw, so awesome. Especially the dragon and what he did. Splat is a wonderful sound effect.
Vilkacis: This makes me wonder what kind of fatality Gandalf might do...
Sammi: I love the killer tic-tac box XD Can I have one?
Konalan: Again I say Elminster should keep more silence spells handy eh. That or just distract Jan with a giant turnip, either would work.
WeeRLegion: Wrestler Elminster! The first three panels make me think of wrestling immediately at any rate. Your Charname is a smart one, actually getting something other than words from Elminster.
Irbis: Kangaxx should head-butt him :D
JAMoczo: This is very true, though if Elminster started killing everything for me I'd probably get angry at him stealing all the experience. As you said though he could have at least thrown a magic item Charnames way.

And since a few minutes later I have remembered how to log in, I can put the actual image up now:
Elminster vs Boo

Elminster: Come back here filthy rodent!

Elminster: AAAAHHH! Not the eyes!!
Warning: Dead magic zone

Elminster vs Olde Englishe

YES!

AAAAHHH! Not the eyes!!

Heeh! Although, I think one of Elminster's hax to the max Stu powarz is the ability to cast spells in dead magic zones. Or dispel them. Something like that. And that's part of why he sucks.

Elminster vs Olde Englishe

YES!

For all of his Stuness and how he shows up to tell you useless things and the game is clearly like "LOOK, SEE, YOU'RE SPECIAL 'CAUSE YOU CAN SEE ELMINSTER!", my biggest beef with him is that he doesn't speak Olde Englishe right! I mean really! He and Dynaheir clearly went to the same school for learning to speak wrong :S

(although actually my biggest problem with Elminster will only be revealed if there's ever a wedding challenge :whistling: )
