First of all, many thanks for Rogue Rebalancing. Sneaker (hehe) are my favourite kind of character, and your mod adds so much to the fun of my actual game. -some!

Now to Arledrian: That i should go get someone to decipher the elvish in his journal was a bit of a downer, with Jaheira, Aerie and an elf PC. (Maybe some ST code or somesuch?)

So, i rather liked him, i suppose he shows off again after the crypt incident?
Hope so. I wanted to steal his foin dagger...

aCHEERS!

Glad you are enjoying it! :)

That's odd. If your protagonist is an elf or a half-elf you should have gotten the [Elven Heritage] dialogue option which allows you to automatically translate the journal by yourself. Furthermore, thief and bard protagonists can use the [Read Language] skill to decipher the journal if their intelligence score is at least 12, and protagonists of any class who's [Lore] score is at least 25 can do the same. Otherwise, any of Bioware's elven NPCs (Jaheira, Aerie and Viconia) as well as Haer'Dalis and Cernd should interject and automatically translate the journal for you if they are currently in your party.

So, i rather liked him, i suppose he shows off again after the crypt incident?
Hope so. I wanted to steal his foin dagger...

No, after his quest is done Arledrian leaves forever. However, you should have gotten the dialogue option to steal the dagger from him if you talked to him with a character who has a decent pickpocket skill score. Otherwise, Arledrian should have given you the dagger at the end of the quest if you saved him and told him that you are planning to go up against Bodhi and her vampires. You can also intimidate him into giving you the dagger at that point if your Charisma is high enough or simply let him die and pick up the dagger from his corpse.

The quest has been coded with all that in mind, so if none of these options were available in your game (especially those about translating the journal) then something must have gone very wrong. Please post the contents of your WeiDU.log so that we can determine the possible cause.

Not an option to mention Bodhi.

Neither that.

F/M/T, Lore >25, Int>12; I even have Haer'Dalis in the group, that makes quite a language team. Couldn't they at least band up and do the translation together?

Strange, I just tested this locally and I'm unable to reproduce the issue you are experiencing on a clean install + G3 BG2 Fixpack + RR. The problem might be caused by a corrupted installation or a compatibility issue, but then again, I don't see any mods in your WeiDu.log which could potentially interfere with Arledrian's quest from RR. Anyway, as noted earlier, with your protagonist and the party composition you mentioned, you are definitively supposed to receive an option to automatically translate the journal right there on the spot (i.e. without visiting Marina's and asking her to help you).

Weird, the dialogue with him was 1. healing him 2. he worrying about me reading his journal 3. me saying it was marina 4. he's relieved and then goes to vacancy (i thought from his dialogue he'd turn up again, someting about selune).

This is intended. He doesn't give you the dagger if you are not aware of his hidden agenda. Note that if Marina translates the journal for you she doesn't tell you about Arledrian's true allegiances.

By the way, i really liked the implementation of stealing the dagger in dialogue, sadly up to this point i did not have enough pickpocketing-skill.
And, hey, you really shouldn't let him go against vampires without his trusted dagger....

Since Arledrian is a skilled thief (and a Shadow Thief fence a that) the pickpocket check which is required to steal his dagger is exceptionally high (your Pickpocket skill needs to be 125 or better). BTW, if you don't steal the dagger from him, Arledrian will actually equip it and use it during the battle with the vampires. ;)

Not an option to mention Bodhi.

You only get that option after receiving the third and final quest from Aran Linvail in Chapter 2 (i.e. the one to clear out Bodhi's lair). Note that you can only mention this if you translated the journal yourself (without Marina's help) and are fully aware of Arledrian's agenda. The same goes for the [Intimidate] option as well.

So be it, all of your other content up to this point (chr.3 just before going to Bodhi) is just fine;
you know, corruption is unlikely as i wouldn't have known that i missed something if you had not told me.
Okay, from the standard of your work, i did not assume you to let those loose ends open...

Later, i can check an old savegame, maybe i can resolve this or send you the exact dialogue.

After some additional testing I think I might have discovered what's causing this issue. Did you per chance try to steal Arledrian's dagger, failed and then talked yourself out of the trouble? That particular sequence of events might have inadvertently caused the dialogue problem which you are experiencing. If you have an earlier save before finding the journal, try loading that and then use the CLUA Console to enter the following command immediately before opening the chest which contains Arledrian's journal:

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("RR#SB_STOLEN","GLOBAL",0)

This should solve the dialogue issues and allow you to properly translate the journal without Marina's help. Let me know if it worked.

Aye, what a relief. After resetting the Variable i had the [Elven Heritage]-option in dialogue and all the ensuing dialigue with Arledrian as you mentioned.

Whats weird, i know i got this failed pickpocket-text, but i'm sure i did a quickload after that. Maybe not, but i'm still fairly sure as i wanted to try and steal it later...

Many thanks and apparently no bug. [Edit: oh well, it IS a bug, no?]

Yup, it's definitively a bug in RR, but luckily, a non-critical one which only manifests under very specific circumstances i.e. when an elf or a half-elf protagonist fails at stealing Arledrian's dagger and talks himself out of the trouble. I've fixed this locally so the issue will be resolved once I publish the next maintenance release.

Anyway, I'm glad it all worked out nicely for you in the end. :) Cheers!
