Just a couple of questions

1) Is the jury out on who the seven mysterious people discussing <CHARNAME>'s fate at the end of BG2 are?

2) At the end of BG1, is it safe to assume that all those statues are representing the Bhaalspawn, and are in some distant plane or are they in a very VERY deep hole in Sarevok's lair? Imagine dropping your keys down their accidentally!

1) ToB was originally going to be BG3. I don't think they'd thought through who the hooded figures were - Bhaal cultists if you go by the table. I guess they could be monks (although BG monks don't actually look like that) or Cowled Wizards, but they were replaced by The Five in ToB.

2) They're Bhaalspawn and it's Hell, or Bhaal's section of it, at any rate.

Actually, I thought they were supposed to be The Five, plus extras? (which means incidentally, they missed one antagonist in ToB):

1) Illasera

2) Yaga-Shura

3) Sendai

4) Abazigal

5) Balthazar

6) Melissan

I don't think it's Balthazar with his monks. He wouldn't have a big Bhaal-symbol on the table.

2) They're Bhaalspawn and it's Hell, or Bhaal's section of it, at any rate.

It might be hell, but I think it's more probable that it's The Barrens of Doom and Despair (Bhaal's home plane) or a unique pocket plane.

Might be the Abyss too, of course.

I don't think there's a "canon" theory, on either of these, but here's my take.
On the first point (people in the BG2 ending), I disagree with Grunker, I don't think that's the Five, if only for the sole reason that a fire giant wouldn't fit at the table. :D Just me, though. I'm leaning towards the Bhaal cultists theory.
As for the second point, before BG2ToB even came out, it was my theory that Bhaal had a little hideaway on his own plane of existence where he stashed a bunch of statues of all his Children, and that when one of them died, said statue dissolved into dust. My take on the movie at the end of BG1 is that even though the PC may have vanquished Sarevok, there are still many other Children out there who will probably come after him/her, at some point. Kinda like a cliffhanger of sorts to say "oooh, perhaps there'll be a sequel in which you have to fight off your siblings!" :P

Couldn't have been the Abyss-ToB be damned, Bhaal was a LE deity and the Abyss is CE. My guess is the Barrens, but it also could have been Gehenna or Baator.

While the entities of the Abyss and Baator are CE and LE respectively, many deities of LE and CE alignment has had cross-referenced interest in the other plane. Baator and the Abyss would each be as likely as the other, in my mind, since Bhaal has no special connection to either of them. His alignment tilts him towards Baator, while dialogue in ToB pushes him towards the Abyss :)

But, two points:

a) There propably isn't a correct answer

b) If there was, The Barrens of Doom and Despair would make the most sense methinks

1) I thought they were the Five, since I cannot count I did not notice they were seven ;-) imho ToB plot was not set in stone yet and those hooded figures were 'replaced' by the Five.

It might be worth pointing out that of the robed figures, none really showed any physical female characteristics (yes I'm including even the not-so obvious details), plus of those who spoke, none had any real close matching voices to any member of the Five. ;)

Also another thing, one of the Five is a fire giant... robes might look good on him but... <_<

Edit: Another thing is, there didn't seem to be a drow among them either.

Nyalee? Interesting.

Icen

Some how it made since that she could have been part of an over arching plot by the others. She seems like outside of speaking in 3rd person she is incredibly sane

it would be interesting if those 7 turned out to be bg3 villians

So the conclusion is its. . . . inconclusive? :D

I Don't think its the Five, to me the Five seemed to be . . . like evil siblings from movies, they have their own semi-small minded (well for god-spawn anyway. Who wants to be DEMI-God of murder?) plans while *SPOILER NAME* wants the whole kit and kaboodle (Yeah I said it) . They're powerful, yes, but not sagely like the Seven seem. That's just my opinion anyway . . . . from 30 seconds of film . . :D

Makes good grounds for a mod plot or something if anyone wanted it . . . :whistling: *just sayin'*

I'm almost surprised that this hasn't been put forth for the robed figures featured at the end of SoA - Representatives of the five. Obviously they wouldn't trust each other enough to all meet in person. (The thought dies with the lack of a drow as Sendai's rep but I'll chalk it up to ToB being in the make at the time. )
