We just started IWD in multiplayer, modded with G3: IWDTweaks/UnfinishedBusiness/ItemUpgrade/Widescreen.
I also modded a throwing hammer +2 and a boomerang + 2 (the former a copy of the throwing axe +2, the latter modifying the hammer darts, which are crap anyway, while a boomerang is cool; both as blunt weapons, and returning to hand) into our game, to have some fun with the myriads of undead (no WeiDU yet, maybe later).
So far, everything is fine.
Just one thing: When my partner, playing a dual-classed human fighter-conjurer, tried to learn fireball, he wasn't able to learn that spell. :WTF:
I always thought, that - by the handbook - conjurers had only divination as their opposing school (not learning identify and such, which is ok - using "all items identified" mod :-)
Can anyone give me a hint? Did I miss something? Is it one of the mods perhaps? Can I find out with a modding tool myself - and with which one, just in case?
Or is there a "no opposing schools" mod for IWD somewhere? :whistling:

Thanks for your patience, have some :cookie: for your help! :)

I think it's different between IWD and BG, for some reason. I can't give you the low down on the rules as I'm no expert but I remember being caught out by the same thing.

Ok, so I'm not the only one.
Are there mods out there to change opposing schools, or eliminate them, in IWD? Then I could skim the scripts myself... didn't find any yet, though...

[edit] ...oh: Aurils bane does that... now if anyone can direct me how Grog did that...

Greater divination and Invocation are actually the correct opposing schools for a conjurer.

Opposed schools are there to balance the advantages a specialist gets. If the advantages are all you're after, the quickest way would be to just make a generalist and add the extra spell slots with an editor. (It's possible that using this would work as well, since IWD also uses the Infinity Engine, but I don' thave it installed so I can't check.)

Actually, I'm more interested in modding than in playing, so ignoring my in-game motivation, how can I ... oh, well, I see, the answer comes in another thread... this thread closed, and thank you for your patience. ^_^
