I've been working with watercolours, acrylics and enamels, (gold leaf and the like) recently and here are some of my endeavours:
(They look a bit funny as they are photos of the canvases themselves):

I started painting as a way of relaxing, since I have problems with anxiety. I've found it very soothing and have produced about 17 pictures so far. I've moved away from the swirls just recently, and my last picture was of a swallowtail butterfly I photographed in Greece.

And remember, never leave a naked person unattended.

Nice! My fav is the last one! I really like the sun/moon themes! Btw, with all this blue it reminds me of summer... :D
I've never worked with watercolours, acrylics or enamels but the result seems really nice!

PS: Where did you found a swallowtail butterfly in Greece? :o It's a little rare to find one in the cities... Please upload! I love animals! :D

If you want to alter reality, you must first escape from it.

Those are awesome, and yes, my favorite is the last one as well!

Butterflies scare me a bit. A monarch kept following me home from the bus stop for an entire block several years ago. It was unsettling.

My favourite is the third, it feels much more balanced compared to the others. I can't help but think the first three would make for very relaxing curtains or comfortors...

I'd like to see all your work, if you don't mind uploading.

I also like the third best, but all of them(liking the first three only slightly more) are excellent!

Very expressive. One of my favorite painters named Gustav Klimt used a lot of gold leaf in his paintings. He used abstract patterns as backgrounds for his characters. My favorite of yours is the 3d one, I like the movement in it.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all the feedback, it's very helpful. I don't mind uploading photos of the rest, I've just got them out of the garage and snapped off some shots, so here they are:

This first one was done as a sort of experiment. I had run out of large canvases and found these small ones at the pound shop, so I thought I would give it a go and make one picture on four tiles. I'm not completely happy with how it turned out.

Other_106__Large_.jpg

This one is a lot smaller than it looks, it's only about 8" x 8". I'm not totally happy with this either, it feels a bit sloppy or unfinished.

Other_107__Large_.jpg

Here is the butterfly.

Other_108__Large_.jpg

And for comparison, here is the original photo, which I took on the greek island of Zakynthos - one of the Ionian Islands.

swallowtail.jpg

This was meant to look like a whirlpool but it all went horribly wrong. I just tell people it's abstract! Heh.

Other_109__Large_.jpg

This one was washed and redone about six times. In the end I threw a lot of gold enamel at it and hoped for the best.

This last one remains my absolute all time favourite. I began it with the circles, which were drawn round the bottom of Lush pots and then just let my imagination run riot. I was worried about it right up until the last brush stroke, and then I fell in love with it. It's the only one I flat out refuse to sell.

Ah. I actually rather like your first one. And wow. Last one gets big points from me. Very much like it.

First and last are both beautiful. I've always liked multiple-canvas paintings.

And here is my most recent painting. It's got some similarities to my others, but I think I'm beginning to head in a different direction. All feedback welcome as usual!

The last one looks great! Too bad I cant' write constructive criticism on it, I'm not good at abstract/non-figurative art ;-)

Reminds me of the sea. And I like it.

Yeah, I'm no better at constructive criticism than Epantiras.

Well, after spending a couple of weeks in a funk, (though don't as me why), and then being wrenched around like a bit of plasticine by the osteopath, I decided to back to my much beloved swirls, and painted the following:

Early_Spring_2009_095__Medium_.jpg

Forgive the bizarre look on my face. Someone off camera was trying to make me laugh. As you can tell, it didn't work. That'll learn 'em!

Anyway, I painted the top half when I was drunk as a skunk! (Can you tell?) The reason I was so... inebriated, was that the results of a housing needs survey I helped analyse recently were being launched, and we (the trust) had booked a conference room in a local hotel. When the launch was over we went through to the bar, and many, many rounds were bought. I walked home with Maman, across a playing field in the pitch dark. (I mean pitch dark as well - we live in the good ol' countryside, and there ain't many street lights). Me being vain old me, had to wear high heels, which sank into God knows what with every step across that field.

All feedback and criticism welcome (of the painting, not my drunk and disorderly-ness).

And remember, never leave a naked person unattended.
