is there a possibility to alter the nwn2 files for the effective class level to ressemble more to icewind dale 2. basically, an ecl+2 character starts with 5k, an ecl+1 starts with 2k exp which isnt transmitted to your other characters. for example, in nwn your main character is a drow or duergar, ecl+2. he starts with 5k, but your other party members start with their regular 0xp (unless of course they are one of the more powerful races as well, like neeshka), i.e. this additional 5k exp is ignored when determining the experience of your other party members.

I think it's an attempt to prevent you from falling too far behind your party members in terms of power. As for how to change it... I have no idea.

or another approach.
is there a possibility to remove the automatical party experience adjustment?
the rest would have to be handled by cheats then

Again, I don't know of anything. You could try NWVault, which has a good deal of mods/hakpacks. Unfortunately I don't have the time on my hands to do a search myself.

Giving a character XP through a script or conversation is a relatively trivial task, with plenty of support. Doing it for characters with particular races should be possible, though I've known these scripts to fail on occasion.

It won't necessarily make a difference to being behind other characters in level though unless you have a permanent scheme of bonus XP for the character involved. Even if you give a character extra XPs at the start, by 10th level at the latest that's not significant enough to keep them level. It might be possible to write a script giving the character extra XPs at all times, but I'm not sure how to go about that.

Back from the brink.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

alright, i ll try out the vault.
about the the other thing. what bothers me most is that when you begin your adventure you have lvl 1 with a drow...and i like to play wizards...which usually means you have 6hp

and i dont mean to keep them levelling the same way as the other characters, otherwise i would have asked how to remove the ecl malus altogether. its just that i feel they should have a headstart as incorporated in ID2

the important part is however that it does not adjust the companions XP
