I'm stuck and need help figuring out the next step to take in this quest.

Have explored the entire Mistmoor mansion, including the basement areas, talked with several ghosts and then had Vildamyr join my party. Talked to the ghost at the well, but no ghost on the roof, though, and the ghost that promised to meet me at the loft never showed up.

Have obtained the two passwords to access the vault, but the mirror won't talk to me, and just gives me the message "A large oval mirror stands against the wall." Even copied the two patch files (MM0205T.CRE and TCBACPAC.STO) into my override file, but that didn't seem to do anything.

Please give me a hint as to what to do next.
Thanks.

If all your party members are close enough to get that message and presumably have Rilithar with you, the talk should start in few seconds. So wait a while and do nothing. Ten seconds at the most.

Well, something seems to be broken, as my entire party has been standing around the oval mirror for several minutes, but nothing happens.

Did make a little progress elsewhere, though, as the ghost finally showed up in the loft and talked with me there, plus I've now also talked with the ghost Rebecca in the house. She told me to go downstairs and talk to the ghost Reverie by the books, but she does not show up.

If I cast a second 'talk with the dead' it tells me the viscount is unsummoned, so that does not seem to help, either. Have searched everywhere, but did not find any book or note containing clues.

Any suggestions as to what I should do next? Help!!!!!

Reverie can be found on the roof of the manor watching the stars.

You must have the viscount's skull and the scroll. Together, they summon him. He will let you access the mirror. BTW, you have to click on the mirror two times, once to tell the password, and once to walk into it.

Thanks for the helpful tips. Very much appreciated.

I don't recall finding a special scroll in the house and can't find one in my inventory now, plus never found Reverie on the roof, so perhaps my install of Classic Adventures got glitched somehow.

Therefore, when I get home tonight, I will start the Mistmoor module all over again from the beginning, in hopes that it will work properly the second time. If not, then I will simply download & install the latest version of Classic Adventures and start from the very beginning.

P.S. The answer is probably NO, but is it possible to use a savegame from my current CA version after installing the latest version of CA?

The scroll is found in the alter of the chapel in the Mistmoor manor grounds. Please note, there is only one scroll in the game, if you don't have the skull when you use the scroll, you won't be able to complete the quest without cheats.

As busy as you guys are, i had thought to try and answer his questions myself, having played through and found this stuff before. But i worried about giving away too much, giving out spoilers, etc. if i answer folks trying to help i'll err on the side of hints, not step by step walkthroughs of course, but i wanted to check, being fairly new to the forum.

i use this

i wish i'd noticed that quick access thing earlier. hah... Now i just feel thoroughly innattentive. :whistling:
