I've been haunting these forums for a while now and finally decided to join up, mainly so that I could post a review of Fade. I bought BG2 when it first came out and have played through it so many times that I almost know it off by heart, so to start a new game I needed some incentive. This time that was Fade.
I was never happy with any of the other romances either in the game or from mods. The best one I had played up till this point was probably Saerileth (until we had some fairly major - but in character - philosophical differences). But something about Fade grabbed my interest and I decided to give the mod a try.

I was not dissapointed.

The first thing that struck me about Fade, was that she was fun. You had the option to just be silly with each other and have some fun, not take everything so seriously which was like a breath of fresh air.

Scondly, she seemed real. The writing was just brilliant. Fade felt like a real person. When the kidnapping occured I actually felt myself get upset, I was worried about my little hunnykitten. One scene/quest early on in particular just felt like something that could happen and the dialogue was very realistic.

Thirdly, she actually seems to like the PC with just enough of the mushy stuff (not so much that it becomes meaningless), most of the other romances can get quite nasty with you at times.

So, any downside?

well there was one bug where Mazzy and Fade got stuck into having the same conversation over and over again. By the time I hit ToB it became an almost continuous loop and I swapped Mazzy out for Sarevok. As much as I like mazzy, if it's between her and Fade, well it's no contest.

I wasn't a fan particularly of the portrait that came with the mod, but that was quite easy to change.

My only other gripe would be...I want more!!!

Can't wait for the ToB portion to be done and some more SoA content (though probably too much to ask for) would be great. I took quite a while about my game, did all of the quests etc (and flirted a lot along the way) so by the end things with Fade got pretty quiet.

So overall, that was probably the best mod I've ever played, certainly the best written. I just want to thank the creators of the mod very much for the enjoyment you've brought us all. Given that I couldn't think of playing another game without Fade, I have to give this mod a 10/10.

On behalf of Mistress Elysia (the writing wizard) and myself (the coding monkey), thank you for the kind words!

I know I said I'd have the ToB content ready for download by the end of the month (hopefully) but unfortunately it looks like it will take longer. RL work and personal issues and so on. Very, very sorry to whoever's been waiting in anticipation.

Could not agree more with the original poster. 10 out of 10, If i had not have known any better i would have thought she was meant to be in the game the whole time.

Just finished the mod and I dont know I ever got along without her. Its my first time to this forum and at first i was afraid that since this mod has been out for so long with no TOB yet, that it was scrapped. Its good to see that people are still playing and Its good to see you guys still working on the ending.

Ill have to put TOB on the shelf until the new release. Hopefully that happens before the release of Bioware new game Dragon Age.

Amazing work guys, can't wait for more!

Thank you so very much for your kind words, both of you! I have to admit that I thought people had forgotten about Fade, but after getting curious as to whether this was true, coming across comments such as these really is a real incentive to get back into the saddle and get this mod finished... ^_^

Thanks again!

Fast Question-First off--I love this mod! Excellent job :). I am stuck atm though and have a question. Im all finished with the underdark; ready to face bodi again. Im pretty sure im in relationship 2 mode -she danced and drank with some dwarves in the bar in the slums and got sick the following morning. Thing is; she wont get kidnaped by Bodi; ive tried sleeping alot, traveling all over; waiting for her to say i love you or such; no reply so far; am i messing up something?

Can you check the E3FadeRomanceActive variable via CLUA Console? If it says 2 then the Bodhi kidnapping should be triggered.

With some more experimenting, I found out she was set to 1 (and was helpful to use E3 before Fades name too :P. I ditched Tashia because for some reason she had the love crush on me-only was nice and did her riddles but didnt actively pursue her-fickle girl. Gave her the heave ho, grabed minsc; reset Fades global to 2 and bam; bodhi snatched her. Thx :) hopefully i can see how this plays out now though im sorry i had to kinda cheat to get her to that lvl of love :/.

Wanted to add my own words of praise as well. Although it does seem a little redundant after what everyone else has been saying about her. Fade is the only reason I've ever played BG2 as a male character haha. She was definitely worth every second I spent on her, I think my boyfriend was starting to get a little jealous actually... Anyway, can't wait for the TOB release! Thank you for writing such an engrossing realistic character.
