A message from a man some of the older IE community members might recall...

I really gave it my all people, tried my best to keep this promise we made to you and keep this deadline. Missed by a few hours, I think. I've got nothing left to give for the minute, it's all been given to this noble effort. And I'm far beyond exhausted from it. But despite all that, I'm still very happy (and relieved) that we'll get to share the fruit of our long labors with all of you, and soon.

We really hope you enjoy what you you experience. We hope this demo is at least worth some of the long wait. We are certainly proud of what we've got to offer you.

Rest assured, after a much-needed modders' vacation, there is plenty more coming from us at Rogue Dao! Who knows---maybe you'll come and join us this time.

Now pike off, ye barmy spire climbers!
And let the games begin!

Now, onto actual links and information!

Not sure what Purgatorio is? Find out about it here!
Want to download the demo? You can either follow the instructions here (and download the music from here) or you can download the torrent (legit, by Rogue Dao Studios) here (direct link).

So far the basic impressions I've received from reading feedback is that the atmosphere is top notch; completely original music (which is utterly awesome, and you should download and convert to mp3 even if you don't want to play the module), beautiful areas and great art direction, but the gameplay and RPG elements aren't quite there yet--and there are a number of bugs.

I'm downloading this version to check it out at some point over the next few weeks and if I have time will post my impressions, if people would like to hear them. In the meantime if you're of a mind, go check it out yourself!

K'aeloree,

Was nice to see you drop by the RDS site, and take the time to add some valuable input. Our thanks!

This was more of a content/recruitment release, than a true game demo. More for builders than players. And hopefully, a lure to those who wish to help shape the final product.

I'm the co-lead designer over there, as well as the technical director and current art lead. I've had a hand in all facets of the project; mainly in scripting, package organization, solving technical issues of all sorts, and in adding to the wealth of art and area resources. The most fun/rewarding part has been breathing the breath of life into the amazing art resources our team has produced. The animated portals you see, the dabus off "doing his dabus thing" in the gatehouse and a couple other districts--those are my babies :) It's been great learning new things, new sides of game production. I never really dreamt of being able to do my own artwork back in the BP days!

Well, that said--I hope some of you find some enjoyment in the material, some of you builders find good use for its parts, and some of you ambitious people give us a knock on the door and lend a hand in this epic project we've taken on. We hope to make something that will be remembered for years to come. Come be a part of it!

Hey Horred! :) It was no problem at all, I quite enjoyed playing through--it's not often I make the time to check out new mods, so I felt it about time to do so; and figured while I was at it I may as well try to be helpful. I'm still planning on continuing when I can, and I'll try to do a more comprehensive write-up at some point. It's just about finding the time to do it in.

(For those interested, I made a post here with some C&C. The feedback thread is worth checking out if you're thinking of checking out the mod, so you can get an idea of what to expect.)
