Bethesda have apparently contracted Obsidian to create a new game set in the Fallout universe.

Just a few weeks ago, Josh Sawyer posted on Twitter: "[Josh Sawyer] loves the smell of contract signing in the... evening." -- with multiple Fallout references since. Source.

Obsidian posted a message earlier that same day on Twitter: "Obsidian is happy today.". Source.

I suspect this will be interesting.

Check out the announcement at Kotaku.

Confirmed.

Yes. I'm the project director and lead designer. I can't complain.

This should be interesting indeed.

Mm... personally I'll have to wait for some more information before I decide whether this'll be interesting. It does sound promising though.

That topic also reminded me of why I hate the Codex.

Yes it will be interesting. Those boys and girls are hard at work with it.
Her lips were red, her looks were free
Her locks were as yellow as gold
Her skin was white as leprosy.
The Nightmare Life-in-Death was she,
Who thicks man's blood with cold.

Looking forward to it. Fallout 3 was good. Maybe not in the same league as the first two but very enjoyable nonetheless.

Well, there's finally some real news about this title... OXM will feature the game in their issue 57 - here's the preview cover.

If anybody's buying, drop a line here when the magazine is out on what they said about it.

Not exactly on topic, but you could use this blog entry by Chris Avellone as an indication of what could change in New Vegas compared to FO3.
