Hey everyone,

I started playing BG2 a while ago with mods: Tactics, Ascension, Quest pack, Unfinished Bussiness, Redemption, Azenmod, Turnip golem, plansphere mod and offcourse official TOB patch and G3 fixpack.

Well, i can say the game was screwed up. I finaly gave up at maevar, since some random character atacked me ( hes a theif that kills you in 1 hit ) and also, maevar was still just a puny theft instead of improved maevar from tactics.

When i start another game of BG2, i wont make a same mistake. I want to use safe combination of mods, that are proven to be compatible. Here is where you come in.

I dont know which mods to use. I did like Tactics and Ascension a lot, because i am not looking for new quests or anything but simply for a way to make existing ones harder. I completed the game with only tactics and ascension many times, thats why i wanted to try adding more mods this time, but result was bad.

I have seen a mod called the big picture, it was supposed to improve AI of enemy. But many ppl say its not as nearly as hard as tactics and ascension. And even in those 2 mods i rarely had a hard time completing quests, killing enemys etc.

Soo what do you suggest. Which mods will offer me most challange, without changing story, give more enemys to dungeons and areas, etc., and hopefully without adding crasy strong items ( poison katana and throwing spear is more then enough ).

Try SCS2.
You might also want to look at Improved Anvil. It is considered to be the hardest tactical mod out there.

What about Tactics + Ascension + another mod ?

You can try to install this in this order:

Ascension
BG2 Fixpack
Tactics
Revised Battles
Sword Coast Stratagems II

I recommend the BiG World Fixpack for Ascension and Tactics, because they are older mods and needs to be fixed. SCSII fixes some issues with Ascension, too. If you want to try "Improved Anvil", then you should install only this without the "BiG World Fxpack":

Baldurdash
Improved Anvil

Only if you like faux-total conversions that are designed to be incompatable with every other mod.

If you download/play it, don't expect any help/responces/support from it's forum/author unless your post is nothing but blind praise.

Encounters offers some challenges. The Undying does as well but you would need an NPC to join your party to get the encounters.
Her lips were red, her looks were free
Her locks were as yellow as gold
Her skin was white as leprosy.
The Nightmare Life-in-Death was she,
Who thicks man's blood with cold.

Leomar: Why is G3 BG2 fixpack after ascension ? I installed like this:

Well, the Ascension overwrites few of the Fixpacks files, and this can led to a game stopping bugs, like that you can't kill certain creatures, or so I have heard...

I installed in order as you said, meaning:

BG2
TOB
Collectors edition cd ( extra seller in coppers coronet )
TOB patch
Ascension
BG2 G3 fixpack
Tactics
Redemption

It might be just me but i noticed 2 differences. Right in the beggining of a game, i equip minsk with long bow and normal arrows. And he has 3 atacks/round, where as before, when i installed mods and stuff in different order, i think he had 2. Also, imoen using normal darts, has 3 atacks/round. Strange.

Another difference i noticed, right after that djini gives you a question about buttons ( if you press ur neighbour dies, etc. ), where a duergar party is awaiting ( 2 mages, 2 melee ), there is also a bunch of wild dogs that werent there before.

I am worried that tactics isnt working properly again. When freeing Viconia there were only 3 enemies. While last time i played i remember there were many enemies.

When i use ShadowKeeper to look for any new creatures, i cant find them under "search CRE". There is no new MaeVar, or any creatures that you find at the end of SOA. Does that mean my Tactics installation wasnt succesfull ?

Nvm, i found them. But there is only 1 Maevar that only has 63 hp. This cant be the maevar from tactics. Also, viconia and only 3 guards. Soo far i did the circus and slaves quest. And i have the feeling that when i played with tactics soo many times, it was somehow harder, while now, i have tactics same as before ( only newer version ) everything is soo much easier.

At least beholders act as they should now. After killing those kobolds under temple district, 1 big and 2 small beholders teleport in. And when jaherae uses shield against them, they atack them when they see their spells wont work. Small beholders keep trying to use spells though and stun themselves.

The Tactics only changes few encounters, and the which it does change can be seen from the WeiDU.log, so open it with Notepad, copy paste the text to the original post and then... <_< <_< <_< <_<

Improved Copper Coronet ? I barely got any damage at all. Well doesnt matter, as long as bosses are hard to beat its good. :)

Normally your installation should be the same as last time, because you have installed only the mods you talked about. Could it be that you play BG on the normal difficulty level and last time it was changed for a harder difficulty level?

Greetings Leomar
