Breaking into the Adventure Mart at night sounds quite fun, really.

This sounds interesting. Although, don't most of the NPCs already disappear at night? It's been a long time since I played BG2 so my memory of the little details is pretty vague. I do like the idea that something would be made more realistic though.

I've just been doing a re-run with assassinations (quite good), and found that the two kids in the slums are standing there all night long, saying they aren't allowed to talk to strangers... :D And I think it's a good idea that government building should be locked at night. Less people standing aimlessly st night in the murder-infested Brigde District, too. More muggers... a random backstabbing guy in the docks, perhaps? Someone trying to pick our pocket?
Guess what? I've started a blog! Kitchen Witchcraft : of Magic and Macaroni.

Another thought: what if the Cowled Wizards actually arrive to investigate the circus tent in Promenade? After the couple of days passed, what if the whole circus quest became "solved", possibly with some consequences, a death of Quayle for example. What do you think?
Whoa lord, it's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way.

Not bad, but likely that'd be pointless, as people tend to solve the circus quest as soon as they emerge from CI. It has many rewards - Aerie, CHA ring, belt and, if Sim's Questpack is installed, one more quest. So I can't really see many folks skipping the circus.

Well, I've an idea how to make Athkatla NPCs behave natural, or at least to pretend they have their own lives besides quest giving and item selling. How about this: on the evening, all major NPCs will close their shops/houses and disappear till the morning. I am currently thinking of Adventurer's Mart, Cromwell's Shop and Government Building, but there can be much more. So what do you think? I am not asking anyone to do it, I could make such a mod myself. I am curious, whether somebody will play this mod except me? :)

Actually, you could script them to actually do a few things:
1) not close if you are in the shop (and they can see you)
2) move to the door, then to the area outside the door, and so forth until they get home.
3) be at their home at night, but unable to sell.

And as long as you do THAT, you might as well make a script like that for every named NPC. Of course, you'll have to add a lot more houses. But it would give you something to do with the empty houses, too.

Another solution is to have most merchants (and commoners) just be "hidden" like Taerom Faerom was at night. But it's not as cool.
