Hi,

I'm about to finish the game but for some reason I'm stuck at the very first part of the Fortress of Regrets.

Whenever my character sees a shadow it attacks this shadow NEARLY immediately and then leaves no control. I can't select my character, I can't cast a spell and I can only access my inventory, which is of no good since I die after like 15 blows of 6-ish damage.
The best I'm able to achieve is to flip the first switch, watch Dak'kon die and then get killed by the shadows in the next room because TNO is that aggressive.

So what happens:
Both the shadow and I see each other and charge and TNO simply gets stuck at trying to beat the shadow melee style (I'm playing mage, wohoo).

I'm using Phorophaty's Blade (dagger, cursed). I'm not sure whether this has anything to do with it, I'm pretty sure it doesn't since I recall using the weapon before, altough I'm not sure since I obtained it just before Trias.

Currently using:
PST 1.1 (2CD)
Fixpack
Tweakpack
Widescreen+UI

If anything can be done I'd be happy to hear so. Saving and reloading and such doesn't work. Actually, my only savegames are in that place (nuttball).

Thanks for your response

The problem -is- the Porphatys Blade. It says "Berserk" right in the item description.

Dang I had a feeling it was something stupid with the blade.

I didn't really figure what "Berserk" would mean before equipping it, neither did I think this would be the result.

Mm... Do I have any chance of getting rid of the item, because I can't choose not to use it either - doomed in the last part of the game?

Thank you for your quick reply and awesome work, by the way!

edit: no savegame 'hacks' working either. I do have the Remove Curse spell I just can't memorise it through resting in this area !

Worse luck for you, I believe that item is bugged and doesn't have the Enchantment value that it's supposed to, meaning I don't think you can even hurt those shadows with it. (That bug will be fixed in v4.0.)

Unfortunately, if you have no other save games to work with, I can't think of any solution to your problem :(

EDIT: If you can figure out how to -add- an item to TNO's inventory with a savegame editor (I haven't ever had to, so I can't give instructions, sorry), you might try adding in my tome of cheats to your TNO. Then you can use the Rest Anywhere cheat to memorize and cast Remove Curse on yourself? That's about the only thing I can think of. You'd have to have either the UB or Tweak pack version of the Tome installed to do that, of course (and you can install it now, after the fact, won't mess anything up). The item file is CHEATS.ITM.

Hah some luck eh!

I'll look into that, thanks a lot!

Both savegame editors couldn't properly read the savegames, as a matter of fact.

I'll look into getting the Tome then. Thank you!

Btw: After a clean install 1.1 with Fixpack, Tweakpack and Widescreenmod+UI the charactars (all of them, in-game) seem to only be willing to 'look' at one way and if I tell them to walk anywhere or an NPC on the map does, they simply stare the same way and moonwalk in the other direction (as in, the direction of travel).

Righta savegame editor fixed my trouble.

I couldn't beat Valhior as a lvl 15 mage though >.>

It's not like he beat me up, not at all. I was just out of spells and he was still up and running after roughly 200 damage?

Then I converted myself to Fighter keeping my standard strenght of like 14 or so and beat the crap out of him in a few hits. Quite odd imho.

I'm curious why you would find this odd. Doesn't it make sense that you would be more effective as a fighter in combat than as a mage with no spells left? If the mage is supposed to be just as effective in combat, why ever be a fighter?

Ah sorry I was on holidays.

I find that odd because I had my full spellbook without any spells used to cast against him and he simply wouldn't die.

Like I said, I converted to a fighter and he simply knocked him out in say what 3-5 hits altough I've been a mage pretty much the whole game!?

Thanks for the tip on Software Mirroring!

Strange. That does sound excessive. What level are you as a fighter? And did you change equipped weapons?

Fighter: 24/25/25/12/19/20 AC-7 280HP Lvl 21 (save at endboss)
Changed to Entropic Blade instead of Phantom Dagger and got the right tattoo's.

Mage: 13/25/24/13/20 AC-5 107HP lvl 17 (save before entering the pre-boss building)

I'm not sure if I obtain XP in the part of the pre-boss building but if not, then I don't know how this happened either (it's been roughly a month I last played). I'm pretty sure I played pretty much the whole game as a Mage. Maybe I changed when at Raven or so?

Well, that certainly explains why you're such an effective fighter, heh.

Did you get the bronze sphere in the fortress and use it, possibly as a fighter? That gives you enough XP to jump a whole lot of levels.

At any rate, looks like mystery solved ;)

Yeah I suppose that's it, because I had the sphere with me.

Darn it still bothers me I didn't manage to beat mr. Boss with my mage ^.^

Thanks for the replies!

Not to be annoying, but you can defeat Mr. Boss in many ways. Also with a weak character, as there are like (what I can think of now like at least 4 ways to beat him. If it is a fight you want... make sure you get some help, that is all I will say on the topic. I finished the game 4 times now - and with all classes.

Still modding the Mod for the Wicked... It is a big project you know... And I got sidetracked (several times) a bit... sorry.
