Hi, just a quick question here which applies to both KOTOR games.

I know that the cost of force points is less to use a power of your alignment and more to use one of the opposite.

Is that the only effect? Or does it alter the alignment of the player at all?

You see, when I've played so far I've stuck exclusively to powers of whatever alignment I'm playing but I'm considering whether or not to give (in this case) the Exile some dark side powers like Lightning or the health drain thing in addition to his other powers.

Cheers.

The alignment only affects the force point usage in the 1st KotOR game, and in the second it's: the availability of the secondary class, the force point usage and NPC alignments, but nothing else...

So you can build a force lightning using Jedi Master, as the saves and other penalties are counted from the other stats like Charisma and Wisdom.

Jarno, I don't think that's what he asked.

No, it doesn't alter the alignment. My sentinel -> weapon master is fully light side and enjoys throwing lightning around a lot anyway. Sure, it costs a little more, but by the time you're level 18 and have lightning or whatever maxed out, you've got such a high maximum Force count it doesn't matter.

Thanks, Choo Choo. And yeah, that was the sort of answer I was looking for.

No, using force powers of the opposite alignment in combat doesn't shift you either way, although using Force Persuade to say/do 'evil' things in dialogues may give you dark side shifts, that's pretty much self-explanatory.

The more charisma you have, the less force powers of the opposite alignment cost to use.

Well, basically Choo choo Choo choo was right, but what's with the train... :P

So someone went a little Mace Windu on the SwKotOR 2...

Now considering there is about +25 to -25 alignment scale, I would say that there was never room for the force powers to effect in such way...

That's what Charisma's for. The higher the CHA, the lower the alignment penalty. I think I had a +12 on my lightning with a 22 charisma or something like that, which was no big deal.

EDIT: Whoops, Luridel, had a rough day and didn't see your post. x.x Sorry. What she said!
