I have heard of at least 2 people now stating that their new 0.51 installs are crashing or throwing error messages. The game then will crash on areas that have the new creature animations. This seems to be related to what language you use on your normal computer (English, Japanese, etc). What I am looking for here is, if you are experiencing this problem, please post a note here and tell us what language your operating system is using. I am going out on a limb here to say that I suspect all American English/European languages work fine. We all use some Greek symbols in our language sets (even if you don't use them on your keyboard). However, non-Latin/Germanic (for lack of a better term) alphabits don't have these symbols and so the game crashes.

So, who's game crashes on the top floor of the haunted mansion outside of Saltmarsh (Stirges)? Crashes on the second half of the upstairs in the Silver Princess area (the Decampus creature)? Crashes meeting Erebus, etc? If so, what language is the operating system using? Thanks.

I am that one of that two, OS Russian, and yes firsly seen that letter on SHS CA forum :)
Also, i had some look like the same problems on one of my old BGT installs(mostly same crashes when trying to center screen on the enter to candlekeep, NW corner of Nashkel etc) and it was because some sort of tiles corruption during BGT compillation, i dont know how i got that that time because i was unable to repeat that mistake sinse than, maybe it is this, or it may not?

BGT has nothing to do with the CA mod. You would need to post error messages in that forum.

Okay, so Russian has the same problem as Chinese and Japanese languages. I kind of expected that. I would assume that Spanish/French/German and other English variations work just fine. Though I really want to hear if anyone is experiencing the problem with those languages. That would cause us to look elsewhere for the problem. As we already discovered, adding another language pack to your Windows XP/2000/7 computer doesn't fix this problem. It is definitely with the base operating system.

It was not about BGT but about messed tiles as a possible reason for crashes, can it be?
BGT was a merely an example, that time i have messed something while BGT or some other mod install and got corruption of tiles for some parts of some areas.
Reinstalled the whole game, was able to get to decapus(via trap) he is like a plain circle so may be it is not that infinity animation stuff.

They are unicode and/or extended ASCII characters, so I think they are common to all computer systems, but I could be wrong. It's extremely easy to crash the game with the new animations if you don't get everything exactly right though. Could also be .exe differences between different language versions - I'm not sure. But if that were the case, most everything would crash, not just a few things.

Miloch - I agree on the ASCII, that is why I am surprised this even happens. The different EXE files are the other possibility. However, if so, it still leads to the fact that those players can't use the IA mod (for now - give us all time to find a solution).

Guest - Tiles can definitely cause a crash. Usually it is from a bad polygon in the WED file (at least they have been for me).

If the decapus is showing as an empty circle, your computer can't see the animation correctly. So you are definitely one of the players that is having this problem.

This is interesting as I remember a .exe hack in the Shadows Over Soubar mod and the Remorhaz walking speed. It said in the TP2 that it was only effective for English BGmain and it involved an animation slot tweak or something. Currently their hasn't been any kind of update for other languages and it sounds like a similar issue here with .exe writing and animation slots.
