Ok, Bigg has released the new version of the widescreen mod that fixes the graphic problems in small areas with certain resolutions (great work man!). Unfortunately for PST, previously saved games are not supported. So, all beloved bug-reporters (notably Nevill and Qwinn) will have to continue their game as they were, but they should know that they contributed to the greater good :salute:

1440x900 doesn't seem to work for some reason. I get the following error message:

Posted Image

Other resolutions are fine, and the game actually loads (but graphics are broken of course) if I just use the Widescreen add-on by itself and don't install the UI component.

This error comes up when the resolution is not supported by your video card. Are you sure you've run PST in 1440x900 with the widescreen mod ? Can you choose it as a desktop resolution in the display properties? If not, you'll need to add it with your video card control panel.

If this resolution is valid in your pc, I can't think of anything else. The error isn't even an UI error, it's a video/driver error. In my end 1440x900 works fine. Maybe you could uninstall all mods, wipe out the override folder and then re-install , to be sure. Also make sure you've not installed PST in the program files folder if you're using VISTA or WIN7.

I've used the widescreen mod with 1440x900 on all the other IE games: BG1/2 (BWP install), Icewind dale etc. I did have to add the resolution to my Nvidia driver for it to initially work, but after that everything was fine. PST also loads fine when using the WS mod in that resolution, but not if I install the UI, so something is definitely screwy.

EDIT: I upgraded the Nvidia 8800 GT to an ATI 5870 - works fine now. Guess it was related to the Nvidia driver somehow.

So, it was the probably the drivers after all. Good to know you got it working. Just out of curiosity, how's the 5870 handling torment ?

The game runs fine and I didn't notice any graphics corruption. Granted, I just went through the character generation and loaded the morgue, so there could be unknown issues lying in wait.

What's not so fine is I discovered that the video card doesn't output 1440x900 properly. Instead it outputs 1600x1200 and puts the rest in a window, which is rather frustrating to say the least. The same goes for several other resolutions, and even 1280x800 gets output as 1280x1024 with black bars. Basically the only resolutions that work the way they're supposed to are 1920x1200, 1680x1050, 1280x1024, 1280x720, 1024x768 and 800x600 (and probably 640x480 - can't select it as a desktop resolution however). ALL the other resolutions are screwed up in some way. I'm rather annoyed to say the least. The driver CD that came with the card was actually missing a lot of resolutions as well - I don't mind living on the technological edge, but I figured basic things like this should "just work" out of the box, never mind 4 months after release.

EDIT: Tracked down the windowboxing issue - GPU scaling is always turned on in Windows 7 it appears, even if you uncheck the button to deactivate it. The only saving grace is there's an option to at least use full screen games using it, so you avoid the windowboxing.

This patch doesn't work with my game.
First, i installed widescreen v 2.31, then your patch. But in the end of the installation it wrote me "ERROR: COPY ~torment.exe~ ~torment.exe~ FAILED: cannot open target".
Here is the text of SETUP-GHOSTDOG'S-PST-UI.DEBUG

Let me guess you're running Win7, this error has been reported by another win7 user, but it's not consistent. Other win7 users have installed it fine. And the funny thing is that it has no grounds at all, it shouldn't be happening. The workaround is this :

-Open the Setup-GhostDog's-PST-UI.tp2 file and erase all the "INCLUDE ~GhostDog's-PST-UI/TPH/journalpics_loadingbar_fix.tph~" entries. There are 5 of them.
This will remove the bmp patching and thus the journal pics and loading bar will not be centered correctly.

If with the above, the installation of the UI finishes without problems, then you can try installing the journal pics and loading bar fix which I have bundled in a separate pack : LINK

tell me how it goes.

Yes, I have Windows 7. And after I had removed those entries, patch successfully installed. Thank you.

I'm glad it worked. Did you also manage to install the separate fix successfully ?

There is also a scaling option inside ATI CCC which you will need to alter accordingly as there are 3 settings to chose from. I've not tried Win7 but I would think the best option would be to totally turn off scaling options in windows and do it purely through ATI settings.

I have a 4870 which works fine with PS:T (on xp).

I've re-uploaded the UI with some small changes. The version stays the same.
I changed a bit the inner structure of the installation to avoid an error that sometimes happens in Windows7 and I've also updated to the latest version of Weidu (v2.13), which is also used by the widescreen mod.

Windows doesn't have any scaling options, so the ATI CCC is the only place to change the methods used. I was going to use my monitor to scale, like I did with my Nvidia card, but since scaling using the ATI driver seems to provide just as good results (if not better) than the monitor, I'm not going to throw any fits over it. The game works and everything seems to be fine.

I'm running on a 27" monitor at native resolution (2560x1440) and part of the UI at the bottom of the screen is being cut off (about half of the party character pictures, also cuts off the bottom of text boxs). Might this have to do either with such a large resolution or with running at a 16x9 resolution vs the more typical 16x10 (which I've had no problem with in the past)?

I`ve just installed PST with this mod (v2.01) and Qwinn`s mods on an Asus Eee PC 1005P and the game runs perfectly in 1024x600 (10" display). I found that the 40% bigger fonts option is just perfect, there are no eyestrain issues at all.

Thanks for all the wonderful work on this, guys!
