I loved the Baldurs Gate and Elder Scrolls Oblivion games and last year I started to play the Dragon Age Origins game.

I had heard that it was supposed to resemble Baldurs Gate 3 and have eagerly awaited its release since August.

Already some spectacular mods have been released, my favourite would be Advanced Tactics which reminds me of the AI scripting system used in Baldurs Gate.

The vanilla game has various conditions and actions which you can assign to your party so they automatically do stuff.

E.G - Health less than 50% => Take a Health potion

Advanced Tactics builds upon the existing game by adding many new conditions which very much reminded of the advanced scripts which were available Baldurs Gate 2.

If any of you haven't played Dragon Age then I would seriously recommend it.

We've got a few mods on our site and I've been thinking of making some more myself.

I've heard that Advanced Tactics is cool, because it allows to let a controlled party member use tactics commands from the script.

However, so far there's no clean and simple method to revert to your "clean" Dragon Age installation. So, I don't install or recommend installing mods, myself.

Make a zip of your clean installation and bring Žem on :)

But it's a few GB's, and there are registry entries I'd rather not mess up. Maybe there's a way to backup just some files, like it is with BG2?

I was relatively sure there were mod managers that allowed the installing and uninstalling of mods?

It's in here too, from which the original post link links to. It's always nice to see more mod download sites.

Well, a *mod* that allows installing and uninstalling mods is ... unreliable? We all worked with Weidu, and we all know that if you keep installing and reinstalling mods via Weidu all the time, there will come a day when dialog.tlk gets messed up(or worse) and you have to do a whole reinstall anyway. I'm afraid the same rule applies here - especially judging by the version log; there're still bugs and possible glitches.

I do wish somebody posted a list of files to backup, instead. That'd be much nicer.

Well, then the safest bet would be to back-up your entire DA installation somewhere.

For those that fell in love with Ser Gilmore during the HN origin, Immortality has finished her Ser Gilmore mod. You can find it at DA Nexus here.

She's an experienced IE modder, and well-accustomed to the level of interaction you get with BG2 NPC mods, so he's likely to be pleasantly talkative. The dialogue samples she's posted on the screenshots tab and on her blog have been quite good.

I'll come back and report after I've had a chance to play with it a bit.

Good! NPC mods are nice. I wish I could read the dialogue, though - there's only one set of dialogue options in screenshot tab, and no dialogue by Ser Gilmore at all. Also, it's strange that he has a different name - Ronald. In Dragon Age, it's usually Ser Name, not Ser Family Name, meaning Ser Gilmore and Arl Eamon and Ser Bryce and Ser Loghain(but Arl Howe, so it IS sort of complicated. Sigh).

And there seems to be only one other NPC mod out there: Douglas. And seems like it's good old "If you don't like this file or you feel offended just don't download it" and "Dont comment offending or saying that you dont like the mod, please". Brings back fond memories. Ah, good old times.

OMG thank you for letting us know about this. I mean, I really liked Alistair and all... but I found Ser Gilmore so ADORABLE and was so upset about what happens to him.

EDIT: a bit disappointing theres no interaction between Ser Gilmore and other NPCs. would have been interesting to see what Alistair has to say about PC-Ser Gilmore relationship.

Roland? Not so strange.

Rendon Howe is always referred to as Arl Rendon Howe or Arl Howe, never as Arl Rendon. And he refers to Bryce Couslann as Teryn (sp?) Couslann, though others don't always. We don't know the full names of many of the actual Sers, though. We know that Loghain is his personal name, not his family name, Jory is a personal name, not a family name, but we never know about Ser Perth, Ser Cauthrien, Ser Gilmore, or any of the other Sers you encounter throughout the game. Since Ser Rory is a bit of a workout on the tongue with all those Rs, it's likely that David Gaider decided to use the family name instead. When Immortality began the mod, she contacted David Gaider for any additional information he had on Ser Gilmore, and it was he that told her that his personal name is Roland, but that he's called Rory by his friends. It's all documented on her BioWare social site blog.

Already a mod out to bring your DLC items over to awakening.

=== KNOWN ISSUES ===
1) Shale's Weapons do not display "Convert all damage to ELEMENT"
2) Memory Band is not retroactively given to the Orleans Warden.
3) Anyone in a non- EN-US game/language will result in text not being show for the DLC items.

Grey Wardens have put up an article on the Dragon Age Resigned mod, called Mod Spotlight: Dragon Age Redesigned.
