Favorite non-romance party member: Mordin
Legion might have replaced Mordin, but he got shafted by Bioware arranging the game so that he hardly gets any screentime if you're going for a No One Left Behind run.

All of them were pretty damn good, though. I liked the least favorite ME2 character (Samara or Jack, probably) better than I liked the best ME1 character... oddly including Garrus and Tali, who I was pretty meh about in the first game but who I like a lot more after ME2.

Mordin was one I adored. He was a really amusing character with his quick talking and the Gilbert and Sullivan was hilarious. He was also a really engaging character when you got beyond scratching the surface with his guilt over the genophage and his motivations.

Yes. This.Asari barkeeper on Illium
I generally liked the aliens more than the humans, but the entire cast was suffering from the fatal flaw known as "not being Wrex".
Once Garrus joined up, though, he remained in my party for the rest of the game. Because he has reach.

Grunt, Garrus, Jack, Mordin... Those three would probably be my favs.
Grunt, just because gameplay wise I just love to have something practically indestructible on my team.
Jack, well, another gameplay favourite here. Shockwave. :3
Garrus. I think his character was improved significantly from ME1's 'hotheaded & inexperienced' newb. He's well written and well voiced too. @_@
And Mordin. Well, good writing here. Definitely an unique character. @_@

If I had to pick one, I'd probably choose Mordin, because I found him to be an absolute barrel of laughs. I may not pick him that often when leaving for missions (even though his Incinerate is a killer), but I found his banters to be the most interesting, the most fun. His rendition of the "Scientist Salarian" was absolutely priceless.
Garrus, well, because he's Garrus, he's my Shepard's buddy, they've been through quite a lot and well, that brings people closer together, even if they are of different species. Didn't like his romance though ("I had reach, but she had flexibility", seriously Garrus, that's how you're gonna woo Shepard, by telling him of your previous conquests?), and I thought I'd thump him over the head when I heard the word "calibrations" for about the zillionth time.
Grunt I really liked as well: aside from being extremely efficient in combat, I thought it was very nice to have a definitely *young* krogan. The contrast with Wrex was very nice, and he made for an interesting character. How can you not like a young krogan who needs you to take him under your wing?
Tali, I like pretty much because she's a close friend of my Shepard, pretty much for the same reasons as Garrus. And she's so nice, how can you hate her? And I love her "Chiktikka vas Paws" combat drone and her battle cries ("Go for the optics, Chiktikka! Go for the optics!").
Thane was intriguing in that silent killer kind of way. And the least worst romance option (between awkward Garrus and overconfident Jacob, it's no wonder my first FemShep stayed faithful to Kaidan!!).
Legion. Well, how can you not be curious about a being that speak for an entire race, the Geth. Sure am looking forward to seeing more of him in ME3 (I'm still nurturing the tender hope that they'll bring the ME1 and ME2 teams back for ME3). That, and if you wait long enough, he does the robot...
And then of course, there's the Asari bartender on Illium. Absolutely hilarious.

Mordin, Garrus, Thane and Legion was the smallest I could narrow it down. Legion fascinates me, Mordin sings for me, Thane cries for me and Garrus wants to have firefights in classy antique shops. And wants to show me his reach. What's not to love?

Poor Morinth. So ignored. Kasumi's also missing.
I'm guessing that Kasumi's missing because this poll was created back in February 2010, before the release of the Kasumi: Stolen Memory DLC (which was around March or April, IIRC).
Don't know what the K-man's excuse for Morinth is, though.

Zaeed is very useful on blow-the-buggers-up missions because he just seems to soak up damage. I didn't warm to Mordin at all and was glad to send him back with the Normandy crew.
Tali - I was soooo tempted to let her blow Legion's head off but...!

Wait, you mean it's not 2010? I keep forgetting what year it is.Poor Morinth. So ignored. Kasumi's also missing.

Morinth would be one of my chosen favorites. I just love the way she's presented, and it's really amusing how many players hate her. She makes my skin crawl and makes me sympathize for her situation at the same time, and I can definitely appreciate a complex character like that.
