While skipping through my BG folders, I was bored. Then I thought, maybe read some dialogs from .D files? I opened first folder, that caught my eye, (Damn. ER.) and started to read. Upon stumbling on a 'backup' folder I found some .DLG files. After fruitless attempts to open it, I clicked on 'Open With'. Windows didn't recognize .DLGs and asked with what program should he open. Below I noticed a white space. (I didn't read the instruction attentively). So I entered there 'notepad' words. Then I saw that every .DLG files in the folder turned into 'notepad file'. There was long string of swearing from me at this point, coz I completely screwed up the whole romance in the game. I honestly thought that the whole text in BG is controlled by Dialog.TLK. Apparently not. Can I undo this? I tried to download files straight from site, but didn't find there any backup files. I tried to force dialogs via CLUA and Globals. I tried to re-install mod (too much freaking time.), but nothing. I'm getting desperate here. I want to end SoA portion of the BG, already.

The keys to delete are to remove the association are \HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dlg, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.dlg, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.dlg, HKEY_USERS\*\Software\Classes\.dlg and HKEY_USERS\*\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.dlg - make sure to backup your registry before removing anything from there. You might need a full game and mods reinstall because Windows utilities sometimes are so dumb that they corrupt binary files on opening, not even on saving them.

The best program for browsing .dlg files is Infinity Explorer (which gives a nice tree view of the dialogue structure).

I doubt you need to remove the association, but it can't hurt (especially to avoid double clicking .dlg files by mistake again).

I'm feeling stupid asking you of this... but can you show a full paths to these associations?

1) Open regedit
2) Edit->Find->type ".dlg"
3) Press F3 to search until you find a folder called ".dlg" in the left pane and delete those folders one by one until the search can't find more
4) Restart the PC for changes to take effect (dunno if this is needed though )

What now? I deleted two .Dlg folders and back upped regedit.

That should've done the job But only 2 folder things?? I have .tp2's set to open with notepad and I have 4 .tp2 folders...

Wait, what's with .tp2s? But I'm not sure what those ere .Dlg files anymore, cuz there are still in 'notepad' state. There files are BODHI, BODHIAMB, BVICONI and etc. I attached one of them.

That was just an example lol .tp2's are the files that come with mods

Anyway, I tried to copy the same files from the PC, and guess what? NOTEPADS! Still notepads.
