Hello,

After applying BiG World Fixpack patches to this mod's files, I attempted to install using weidu-mac (v.213 of WeiDU) on my Mac. The installer copied and patched files, created directories...then failed :( The resulting failure looks like this:

ERROR locating resource for 'COPY'
Resource [RA5100.are] not found in KEY file:
[./chitin.key]
Stopping installation because of error.
Stopping installation because of error.

ERROR Installing [Region Of Terror, v2.1], rolling back to previous state
Will uninstall 3203 files for [Setup-RoT.tp2] component 0.
Uninstalled 3203 files for [Setup-RoT.tp2] component 0.
ERROR: Failure("resource [RA5100.are] not found for 'COPY'")
PLEASE email the file Setup-RoT.DEBUG to Gilgamesh, King Diamond (WeiDU conversion)

Is RA5100.cre a legitimate (valid) file? A Web search reveals nothing, and the search function here at SHS is broken. How can I solve this issue, and complete the installation of Region of Terror?

Note: the mod installed fine before I applied any patches, but in a test game, Wulfgar and Drizzt appeared without any gear.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric P.,

I will try to answer your questions although I am not using any Mac-type installations. The RA5100 is a legitimate file in Region of Terror and all the area files are copied over near the beginning of installation.

In Region of Terror, Drizz't and Wulfgar start without any gear as they have been captured as well so this is intentional. There is a larger side quest in the mod where they go to retrieve their signature weapons.

Can you post your debug here?

Note: the mod installed fine before I applied any patches,

The G3 fixpack is fine but do you mean BWP stuff?

EDIT2:

I would start from a clean installation and let the BWP fixpack batch file make the necessary changes before the actual mod is installed.

It shouldn't be looking in chitin.key for COPYing a mod file from mod folders. COPY_EXISTING would be a different matter, but that's not the right syntax for a mod-added area.

Oh, but the batch files don't work on my Mac. At least, I don't know of a way to make them work; I'm hoping there's a way to do it in the Terminal. So, all I can do presently is proceed to restore backed-up critical game files, then begin installing mods again from the BG2 Fixpack on up, as I so often do ;)

Thanks,
Eric

Just extracted a fresh copy of RoT2, dropped the folder into my BGII - SoA folder, ran an updater to make sure it was at WeiDU's latest version, then attempted to install it in a Terminal shell. This time, the error is with a different file:

ERROR locating resource for 'COPY'
Resource [MXSPLDRU.2DA] not found in KEY file:
[./chitin.key]
Stopping installation because of error.

ERROR: Failure("resource [MXSPLDRU.2DA] not found for 'COPY'")
PLEASE email the file Setup-RoT.DEBUG to Gilgamesh, King Diamond (WeiDU conversion)

I restored all critical files from back-ups of a "pristine + BG2 Fixpack" full install of BGII - SoA/ToB for OS X before installing mods. RoT is the latest version. I don't know what's going wrong, and would appreciate some assistance to solve this.

Thanks,
Eric

So you said once that RoT installed fine before patches. Can you try and replicate the conditions before that install? Was it a fresh game installation from CD's or DVD's?

Sometimes I delete everything from my SoA folder; every file, every folder. My backup consists of an exact duplicate of the SoA folder; every file, every folder and when I restore from a backup, everything is accounted for in its "original" condition before I even let WeiDU get its hands on anything. Maybe it is too much but it works every time when I have installed the same mod ten times over and over in different languages

Well, I've been keeping copies of the following files, after a fresh-from-disc install with the latest ToB patch applied, in a folder called _backup inside the BGII - SoA folder:

DATA folder
OVERRIDE folder
dialog.tlk
chitin.key

To this back-up, I added two "dummy" files:

bgmain.exe
baldur.exe

These are empty text files. Some mod installers simply check for the presence of such named files, and installation succeeds where no data from the files needs to be accessed.

Perhaps I'll have more success if I delete everything, install anew from the game discs, then save the same files to _backup before adding even the BG2 Fixpack...and install each mod using freshly-extracted folders, without applying any patches to any mods. I'm still not sure whether I should be patching any mod files or not.

Back to square one yet again :)
Thanks,
Eric
