Hey, I was thinking of playing the entire trilogy through once again. (BG+TOTSC+BG2+TOB)

So I ran in to this utility which seems pretty amazing, good work guys! :Bow:

I'm planning on playing the game with the Tactic mods. I'm currently downloading everything, only alteration I did was removed widescreenmod, cos I read it might better to instal very last if I want to change res mid game.

The question I have is about the game rules. I would like to play so each time I level up it rolls me the highest health points. Additionally I would also like to get spell progression where I get a lot of spell slots after level 20, I think this is the PnP progression table.

So how would I get these two rule changes with the Tactics pack? (max healt on lvl up and lots of spell slots at high lvls)

Well, if you put the game difficulty to the lowest setting in the game(options->) you'll get the max hit points everytime... and the TDD comes with a 50thlevel rules that gives quite many spell slots when you level up, so it should be fine too... unless you wish to make your own rules, which you actually can, you just have to make a new .txt file, rename it appropriately as one of the .2da files(mxspl....2da), and make the table to be alike this:

Read the link for more info on how to name the files etc.
And to use the file, you just have to put it into the "override" folder that's inside the game folder(after you have installed everything, as then it will override all the other mod made changes).

You'll have to do some .bat editing, but it is very easy. The highest health tweak is no problem, but the .PDF explicitly warns against the Spell Progression tweaks because they are either already added by another mod or conflict with the rulesets added by another mod. If you want to do that, follow Jarno's advice.


To get the max health tweak into your installation:

-Open the BiG World Install.bat file with any text editor (like notepad).
-Scroll down until you find this block:

-Insert the component number for the Max Health tweak (component numbers are listed in the .PDF). You'll find that the component number for Max Health is 3000 (3001 for NwN-style).
-The block would then look like this:

-That component only benefits you, the protagonist. If you wanted NPCs to get the benefits of it, you'd need to use the follow-up tweak to do that. With that, you have the option of giving max health to Party-NPCs only (3012), to all creatures in the game (3010) to level the playing field, or to everything BUT Party-NPCs (3011) to make it a little more difficult on yourself.
-Make the changes you want, Save it, and close it.

Aah okey so thats how it works. Thank you!

One additional question, do you guys know what are the spell progression tables by default with Tactic pack? I think the BG2's original ones are capped to low values like in Janne Mikkola's example to 5 spells per level. From what I can decypher from the manual it uses one from TDD but I can't seem to find info what kind of tables those are then.

If you have TDD or BP installed, it will use the level 50 ruleset progression. It looks like this (this is the Wizard table):
