I believe those are all the temporary companions you can get in the game if I miss some I apologize...Anyways who is your favorite Non-Perm NPC? Myself I cater to Gorim Soris and Daveth as my favorite 3 but overall I would have to say Soris is number one...I like his demeanour and funny outlook in the city elf origin...and if I had to pick one to stay it would be him...what about you?

EDIT - I suppose there is one "Other" NPC you can control...First Enchanter Irving in the Fade Area but unlike the rest of all these NPCS he is never in the same party as the Warden...So I highly doubt anyone would consider him their favorite non perm ally heh...

EDIT 2 - Not sure if I should add Mihari on this list...In my first playthrough she died in the joining but ive heard rumors that she can live...not sure if that has any truth to that as ive only played and beated awakening once so far...anyone know if shes just for the begin of the game or what?

I really don't know: I like Jowan, Tamlen and Gorim. I like Jowan's quest, and Tamlen's moment in camp was one of the most emotional for me. Although Gorim is such an idiot when you choose "Lady Aeducan's lover" path and he marries right after Ostagar! Yet, as far as I am aware, Gorim returns to Orzammar with you in the end(although I only tried being friends; I don't think I could like him as a lover - leaving his pregnant wife??). Anyway, I choose Jowan, as he's the most developed one. I wish they made him a full joinable: female mages suck, Velanna/Wynne are dreadfully boring, and having Morrigan in every game gets old.

I voted for Ser Gilmore, because he's just so dreamy, and e's the first one I encountered in my playthroughs, so he has this special claim in my DA gamer's heart. However, I really, really, really like Jowan, he's a close second.
I liked Gorim when I played a Female Aeducan, but when I got to Denerim and saw he'd gotten married, and already had a child on the way, well... let's just say he fell out of favor. Tamlen was also one of the strongest non-perm NPCs, especially with that poignant scene at camp that Kulyok mentioned. My only complaint is that it would've been even more had he been more than just a clanmate to my female Dalish elf, but that's just me...
By the way, the Cousland mother's full name is "Teyrna Eleanor Cousland". ;) And yes, I wouldn't include Irving in this list, either.

Tamlen personally comes across a little more uniquely than most of the others listed, pretty hard to vote over others like Soris, Gorim, or even Daveth (least if my memory serves correctly ^_^ ) though.
Mouse were he not so blatantly obvious probably would've made the cut as well, Jowan as well but ehhh.. it kinda feels like they had a story in mind for him at one point, but did a complete U-turn at completion of design and made him something else just because. Don't get me wrong, he's alright, just plain annoying to endure sometimes, even if the most fleshed out of them all.

Tamlen seemed to have less of the generic animations plaguing so many characters too, albeit still present - and he also didn't let go of the theme of "elves hating humans vice versa" either, very few others kept to that and even then tended to forget ten seconds later, for what I remember his cultural aspect was fairly consistent for the short time he spends on the screen.
Recommend for full-time promotion though? Heck no, that'd destroy any semblance of staying value to his character, good as he is he'd eventually run into the same situation many of the mains suffer from. :)

Gorim's awesome, and completely loyal. Mrs Cousland is also pretty cool. And I like Ser Gilmore and Jowan (even though he's a screw-up). Leske was cool up until you return to Orzammar - shame how that played out.
Never warmed to Tamlen.

I loved Ser Gilmore and Jowan (kind of wanted to strangle Lily, but that's just me). I adored Gorim... right up until I got to Denerim. Soris was alright. I liked him a lot better than my bridegroom, actually. I felt nothing for Tamlen but revulsion at his bigotry. Liked the Couslanns, but I think I might have played that Origin too many times. Daveth rocks. I liked him lots. I never really felt much of anything toward Jory. And I liked Mouse.

Favorite? Tie between Ser Gilmore and Jowan. Coin toss gives it to Ser Gilmore. Yes, I really did have to flip a coin.

I adored Gorim, and he's my vote (a dwarf, what's wrong with me). Since my Aeducan never got involved with him prior to the game - he was her second and her best friend and that's all - I didn't have a problem with him marrying another woman on the surface. I just assumed that when Gorim followed my Warden back to Orzammar, he took his wife with him.

Am I the only one who absolutely hate Jowan? And Ser Jory too, for that matter.

Soris gets a vote, Daveth comes second, and momma Cousland takes third place.
Gorim was fun enough too, but I haven't played the DN origin many enough time to really have a proper picture of him.

And yeah, Jowan sucks. o_o
Sure, the fact that Bioware backtracked on making him a full fledged NPC contributes that; his whole "I wanna help! But... I just don't wanna help YOU fight these things. Like. uh-huh." is really annoying. And he's a bag full of whine and stupid anyway. And his spell selections suck (if you pick him to fight the demon in the fade that is).
...
Yes-ser, methinks you'll be staying in that silly cell of yours, and no ser, I don't think I'll have anything to say in your defense if anyone ever happens to ask me. o_o

I know there is a Ser Gilmore mod out at the moment...not sure if its any good but I wonder if anyone has tried to do anything with Jowan...since like you said he was basically cut out for being an NPC for whatever reason...

I voted for Gorim. I like him because he actually has a personality, which I think most of the temporary NPCs lack, with a few exceptions.

Plus he's making me filthy rich with his store... that's always a factor.

My vote goes to Ser Gilmore hands down ;)

I really don't know why a lot of people like Jowan Oo To me, he was just *friend* and didn't feel sorry for him to be honest. After all, he's the one who chose to be a blood mage and who chose to lie to his lover. And I stuck by him too. Felt so betrayed. So imagine how Lily would have felt.

Truth be told, I liked all of the non-perm companions, but I voted Leske, just because I thought he was awesome. It could quite easily have been Gorim or Mother Cousland, though. Jowan, Tamlen, Ser Jory, Daveth, Ser Gilmore and Soris were all quite cool, too. I felt something - whether like or dislike - for all of them, which is impressive, given how little time they spent on screen.

Ser Gilmore is no mare unplayable so I count him no more.... but did the mod they did added a romance with him or nor? Still didn't get it...

I vote for Jowan gods he is such a mess! He would have been the best mage in the party if he could be added... And since my mage is a blood mage too I take everything as personal :)

I voted for Ser Jory, despite how weird-looking he was, because he was simple, respectful, and dedicated to his family. I really liked Duncan in general, but he is very much a murderer in my mind for what he did.

I was considering the Cousland mother though, because she was funny, likable, devoted to her husband and son, and kicked major ass when it came to the invasion.

I hated Leske so much. He annoyed me to no end, and lost major points by legitimately trying to get the PC to admit attraction to his sister. And I haven't even seen what happens when you come back to the city. Daveth too would be someone I would probably have ended up socking in the face in real life. I suppose he showed some mettle in the end though.

I was gonna put Gorim but aparantly he's kind of a creep if you're a girl. I pretty much only play honorable male dwarves in these games, so i have sort of a skewed perspective on stuff.

Ser Jory's an ugly spud, but I went with him. He's good and I like how he got out his sword and tried to kill Duncan. I liked Duncan, but I'd kill just about anyone if they were gonna kill me.

I considered putting Scout or Mouse just to be a jackass, but I decided to go legitimate for once. Which reminds me, how could anyone like Mouse? He's a demon! No offense to anyone, I just don't even understand that one..

*kills legitimacy* Who wouldn't want a man who could shapeshift into all sorts of animals? And a backstabbing demon to boot? Exciting. Being with him would never get get old... until you wore down his spirit and he became stuck in the form of a quivering mass of greyish goo I suppose. And even that would be entertaining for a few weeks.
