When i started with my burglar class i am only able to put 1 profiency point into each class except the dagger, dart and sling. When i level up will i be able to put more than 1 point in the other weapons?

The Burglar kit is not part of the original BGII - ToB game... so this is the wrong forum to ask such a question!

Now what comes to the answer, it totally depends on which mod you installed that has the Burglar Kit. From what I can tell, the answer is yes, you can only put 2 points to the 3 weapons and one to the others a thief can use.

I guessed i would have to dual class with a fighter then.

Alot of kits you can only have 1 profiency point in weapons apart from the 2 weapon style. As you level up more will you be able to add more points? im not just talking about the custom kits people have made but biowares own kits.

No, you cannot add more than 1 point to any weapon or style if you were unable to do so at character creation. So a Priest of Lathander can put only 1 point in any weapon or style, an Archer can put 5 in ranged weapons but just 1 in other weapons, and a single-classed Assassin will never be able to put points into 2-Handed Sword.

I have been just messing around with the game at the moment. I though that the points that you put into weapons gave you the + to hit and damge in the ability bonus section in the records page. It seems that this will be higher depending on my strenth and dexterity. I have a question more questions regarding weapon profiencies. 1 put is being proficent with a weapon and 2 points makes you specialized with the weapon is that correct? if i put 2 points into my weapon were does the extra damage and to hit bonus show up on the records page? because like i said my burgular has +2 to damage and +1 to hit which were added due to have both strengh and damage at 18.

For many of your questions:
BG1 official manual
BG2 official manual

It's a good read :)

I have read the manual and it doesnt explain very much. The manual doesnt say much about weapon profiencies. I know that they do, but in the records page it does not display the bonus when you put more than 1 point into a weapon to the hit and damage bonuses.

Here's the normal bonuses, yes, it depends on that file... the reason why there is not change between the 0 and 1 stars is that the difference is actually class based, and so for example the Fighter suffers only -1 penalty to his thac0, while the mages take more penalty(should be about -4).
Just like I said in the other thread. :)

And by the way, what's this that I see ? On the page 53 in the manual...

Well i have done alot of messing around and have figured it out. You need to have max strength to get +1 to hit and +2 to damage. That is at specialised. if i have 2 points in a sling i guess that hit becomes +2 and damage becomes +4?
