(...at least that's what I'm told, but it doesn't show up on my dlc menu.)

It's called the "Firepower DLC Pack" and contains the following:

M-5a Phalanx Heavy Pistol
gun1.jpg

M-96 Mattock Heavy Rifle
gun2.jpg

Geth Plasma Shotgun
gun3.jpg

When a "heavy" pistol won't do the job, the Phalanx brings the bang! It hits like a hand cannon and features an integral laser sight for a whole new aiming experience! Ever wanted a sniper rifle without the scope or an assault rifle without the recoil? The Mattock heavy rifle is a hybrid of the two, a semi-auto beast usable with any class with an assault rifle skill! The Geth Plasma Shotgun is a three-barreled monster that creates plasma the right way -- on impact! Charge it up for even greater damage, or blast away rapid-fire at longer ranges than normal shotguns

160 funbux. I'd say Cerberus Network? What Cerberus Network? except I already did.

Anyway, it's about time they released that damn pistol. It's been hanging around screenshots since what, before Kasumi came out? That's pretty slow.

Well no helmets is a plus, no? :)

"Sniper rifle without the scope or an assault rifle without the recoil?" Yes, I totally do want a blow-dryer box that defies natural physics for no apparent reason other than being tired of elbowing my enemies to death. ^_^

Still wouldn't mind if they came up with some tactically viable weapons though, like say, I'unno - a mine launcher. Anything that'd put the environment to use! I mean really, pretty much everything being developed is the same gadget. How about we get something that changes things up a little in player strategy?

I know developers are always all gushy about their physics engine, but damn it, the Force Biotics routine doesn't add that much variety to fire-fights.

And now that I think about it, they seem awfully fond of the blow-dryer design... even that Geth Shotgun isn't spared.

Edit Helloooo Solar not paying full attention, Edit would like to kick thee in the face I think.

The only thing I have to say is a giant "meh". I basically lost interest with DLC around the time Kasumi was released, and although I guess I'll get the Overlord DLC some day (when and if I decide to do another playthrough), this is just... Underwhelming is the word, I guess... Seriously, I don't see how, why, or who would pay for this... Stop churning out the DLC and get to work on ME3 & DA2 already, BioWare!!!

By the way, Vilkacis, I have to say... I absolutely *love* your avatar. (I know, I know, I'm a total Kaidan fan girl, so shoot me)

Well, BioWare needs to make money... and they will be able to take double the money with a single game, with enough DLC's, while they are almost fully committed on the next games. Yes, they are already making them, but that takes time.

Hmm, actually the "Firepower DLC Pack" might be a good sign. Why? Well, because the Bioware seemed to have this policy of: small ME2 dlc + bigger DA dlc every odd month, small DA dlc + bigger ME2 dlc even month. There's two bigger DLCs coming out 'soon', "Golems of Amgarrak" coming on august 10th, and "Lair of the Shadow Broker" that was in the news in 22.07.2010, but hasn't come out, yet. This might be a sign that they needed to refine the modDLC, so... it got put to later release date... and then they put this quick 5 minute job to make new cool weapons to the intern. ;)

I do like the look of that heavy pistol, but I wouldn't pay for it.

Also, WHAT?! @ vilkacis' avatar. I have nothing against Kaidan, but... but...

Well, considering all the previous weapons have smaller space between the grip and barrel, how in the cheese anyone would learn to use the weapon ? And when considering that the weapons is a hand cannon, it should have a considerable kick...

Also, WHAT?! @ vilkacis' avatar. I have nothing against Kaidan, but... but...

...but Kaidan is not Urdnot Wrex!

Seems like something aimed at the console users to me, as the marketing folks seem to think they use those MS points pretty freely.

And PC as well... as there is no tool set that can create new items from scratch even for PC.
Even worse fact is, the Mass Effect 2 mods are classified as "Dragon Age" mods in Biowares own moding forum, and as this is the only way to see most of them, the whole &/(#¤¤#& "&%(&/%#&/8 #&%/&/¤# (throws a hissy fit).

@Jarno
Then there are two groups you should know about:
Texture modders
.ini modders

They don't have all available mods for ME2, but it's enough for a start.

This project page has probably the best armor reskin ever for ME2:

Thanks for the links, they only serve to reinforce the "aimed at console players" ideology behind these DLC mini-packs, i.e. PC users CAN modify the game to some extend, whereas console players rely completely on BioWare for any new additions.

The DLC mini-packs are somewhat similar in cost to the console-exclusive Omega Premium Theme, Avatar Items and Picture Packs, so it's pretty clear where BioWare thinks the money is with this type of low-cost content.
