When you uninstall WeiDU mods then the strings are still left in the Dialog.tlk but they aren't assigned to anything. This is what courses the 'jumbled WeiDU strings' or 'Stroke Anomen's Thigh' bug.I was just wondering: is a module supposed to restore Dialog.TLK after it's uninstalled? I uninstalled all WeiDU mods and then noticed that there were still abunch of entries in my games Dialog.TLK for some of these mods. Is this the way it's expected to work?
Thanks,
-Fred

Actually, it's not the cause... although we're not entirely sure what DOES cause those.

OK, thanks for the info! I'll have to learn how to use these commands. No, Fred, .tlk does not get rolled back. That's why that TP2 command that changes strings is labeled "do not use."

If I install a mod "MyMod" and it add strings to Dialog.TLK, then I uninstall "MyMod" and then I reinstall "MyMod" again. Will I add new strings to Dialog.TLK a second time, or will I reuse the strings I added the first time?
I guess it makes sense to add them again since the strings might change between releases of "MyMod", but this also means Dialog.tlk grows steadily with each install/uninstall...

That's a good question. I've installed/uninstalled my mod about a thousand times. That's a real good question. I wonder if there is some upper end limit to the string reference numbers in dialog.tlk. If so I'll probably reach it!

And I'd really like to know what does cause this to happen because making a journal entry fixer is beyond me.

Looking at this a little closer, journal entries appear to get out of whack only if you:And I'd really like to know what does cause this to happen because making a journal entry fixer is beyond me.

1. Install some mods.
2. Do something that causes a journal entry.
3. Save the game.
4. Uninstall the mods AND the game.
5. Reinstall the game.
6. Reinstall the mods in a different order.
Just re-installing mods in a different order didn't appear to have any effect on the journal entries.

This is a good thing! So dialog.tlk doesn't grow steadily with every install/uninstall unless you change all the strings between each version. If the string is absolutely identical it'll re-use it. If you change the spelling or something, it'll add a new string for that line.
