SOLVED: The problem was my class (Mage Hunter) that crashed every time I rested. The fix is to use shadow keeper and delete Spell Turning (and if that doesn't solve it try deleting True Sight as well). Thanks to everyone that helped!

Like the title says, I try to rest in any area (or even an inn) and the game crashes. As a result of the crash I try to use the Tobexloader.exe and it immediately crashes as well. So I can play the game, but I can't rest... and crashing makes it so I can't use the loader.

Not sure what Debug file you'll need. So here are the ones that I could find that might be useful. Would love to play this great mod... but right now I can't (not being able to rest and all).

Thanks!

(And by the way sorry that my first post has to be about a problem I'm having).

The only really useful log for crashes is baldur.err (not baldur.log) in your main game folder, which you have not attached. Just open it with a text editor and copy and post the contents from after the crash, if there is anything, don't bother attaching it.

There wasn't anything in that log. That's why I didn't post it.

Perhaps because you have not enabled it...
What Operation system you have ? Where is your game folder ? If you have either Windows Vista or 7, you need to disable both the UAC and the PCA(the answer #2) before you install the game...

Open the game folder, there is a file called baldur.ini, open that with Notepad, and...

Under the [Program Options] section in the file, type Logging On=1 (unless it's already there). While you're there, you may also want to make sure Debug Mode=1 , is there to enable the CLUAConsole for debugging and testing. Save the file and exit. Now go back into the game and try to reproduce the crash. Then look in your game folder again for the Baldur.err file and open it with a text editor to analyze its contents.

Will do. I have Win7, installed in C:/Games (I read your FAQ :^)...), have the UAC and PCA disabled. But didn't enable it. Get back to you when I get that done.

Well, so there is nothing. Kinda hard to troubleshoot without any info. When does it crash, when the rest movie starts playing or what?

No, I just press the rest button and the games just crashes. Whether at an inn or not all I have to do is click it and it crashes. Soon after I try to reload the game with Tobexloader and it will crash if I try to use that (the reason I loaded that error log was that it was the only one giving an error in an actual log). However if I boot from BGmain it will run (just until I click the Rest button and then it will crash again).

...

Have you tried dropping everything on the ground, kicking everyone from the party and exiting the area and then resting... as it might have something to do with those, so you could try that. Assuming you have a save that you can then load to try something else of course... and if it helps, try to find out what's causing the problem, it could be an NPC, an item, a script, a kit, a class... or any combination of them.

I play BGII under Mac OS X (10.4.11), and I've seen this behavior before. Running Nythrun's Fix after installing whatever mods I've already installed fixes this CTD issue when clicking the Rest button. Give it a try and see if it helps!

Good luck,
Eric

I would love to do that (sorry for the really late post, I just happen to be moving when I asked the question). But how do I go about obtaining this fix?

Also, I tried getting rid of all my party members and get rid of everything in my bags... but it still crashes. (There is something that I couldn't get rid of and it was one of the 2 items that you get with the dog).

Well, you already have Resource Fixer and Creature Slot Fixer in your WeiDU.log which include Nythrun's fixer macros. So I dunno. When I have heard this type of thing happen before, it's usually a dialogue issue with an NPC mod. So for starters, I guess you could try removing all NPCs, or tell them to wait at an inn or something 1 by 1. If it still happens with just the PC in the party, it must be something else. Like I said, kinda hard to troubleshoot without a specific error message.

Edit: n/m you already dropped everyone - didn't see that. It won't be Haiass' items causing a crash because they don't do anything unless you use them. You could try importing your game into ToB and reimporting it into SoA, or just exporting/reimporting your PC. If none of that works, something may have gone awry with your install.

Ok, just tried importing my game into ToB. Resting WITH that character crashed the game. However, resting WITHOUT that character (IE I made a character from scratch just to test) did not CTD. Weird.

Note* I only started the game with BGmain in this instance as trying to open with tobexloader still fails to load. I'm wondering if I will have to play the game without tobexloader and just start a character with Bgmain. If that's the case, what am I missing (as in, where can I get a detailed list of what I am missing) by not playing with Tobexloader?

(Edit): Created a new game, almost equal to that of the other one in terms of, well... everything. Resting does not CTD IF I make the game with just Bgmain and not Tobexloader like I did initially.

Sorry for the continuous double post. If it turns out it is Tobexloader that is causing the crash (as it seems it is), what can I do to fix it perhaps?

Something is obviously hosed with your character. You might want to compare the working .chr with the crashing one and see if there's a difference. Use DLTCEP, Near Infinity, Shadowkeeper etc. If you can't find anything, attach it here and maybe someone else can.

Sorry for the continuous double post.

If you're registered (which you are) you can edit your posts (which I think you've also done).

I don't know much about it - probably best to post in one of the TobEx threads. Might want to post your TobEx.log or whatever, if there's anything in it (or link it if you already posted it above).

Resurrect!

I have been busy since I moved and what not and didn't get the chance to get back to this. I reinstalled everything, but alas I still have a CTD problem when resting. Though after reinstalling some of the other problems went away with the tobexloader. As it stands I think it has something to do with loading the movies to rest as I didn't have this problem when I made a game in TOB.

I would really like to play the game starting with BG1... but if I have to I guess I would start at BG2.

Might want to make sure you get the latest mods, including TobEx because it's been updated quite a bit recently.

Yeah I just did a reinstall with the latest downloads. And I am pretty sure it isn't tobexloader.

Oh, well I forgot what you'd posted earlier, so try the obvious:
