Helm of Mind Warding

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but the Helm of Mind-Warding, contrary to its description, does not give the wearer immunity to negative mind effects. It does, however, work in the sense you can select it as "Use Item" to cast the True-Sight spell, but that's about it. No immunity to confusion, charm, or anything. Anyone else have this problem?

OP here. When I said "doesn't work" I meant that the "Mind Ward" spell, which is active at all times, doesn't seem to work.

I got that problem right now, yes: being dominated and dire charmed ad nauseam by a bunch of Fledging Vampires.
"Alright, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what has the humans ever done for us!?"
