You mean the dialog window... well, you first need to end the dialog, as usually there's more than 1 option to say in a dialog, or it would be preset monologue... and the dialog window should then set itself back to what it was.my chat window keeps maximizing and staying like it,

There is no dialog, other then the combat logging... i'm not in conversation...
i'm simply going around my normal adventuring self but with a giant dialogue window taking up half the screen..... if i go to the save menu then come back it will allow me to minimize it, but then it will pop up again seconds later

If you're running any mods, try uninstalling them one by one in case there's a conflict in there somewhere. If you're running a UI mod I'd start looking there first.
