Okay, given that Black Isle Studios no longer exists, I'm not sure where to ask for help with this issue. Basically, I'm sitting down to play IWD2 for the first time in a few years. I've installed the game and installed the 2.01 patch. The game runs just fine (I'm running Vista), but the sound is off. Music and ambient sound work fine, but sound effects (such as footsteps) and voices don't work at all. The voice files are right where they should be in the installation folder (I did a full installation), so I'm not sure what the issue is.

Any ideas? If you need more information, please let me know.

Usually this issue is due to a multiple loud speakers with unfitting setup made to the game, so you should refer back to the 2.0 stereo sound setup, and the sounds should come back, like the magic to a mage.

Where would I find out more about 2.0 stereo setup for IWD2?

Ok, to setup stereo for your PC. You want to go to the control panel and go to sound.
After click configure for your speakers, its really easy from there out. It'll just walk you through.
After you do that, IWD2's sound should be just fine.

Its trying to run IWD2 with surround settings.
Just like Jarno said.
