I was reading a thread where the subject of the colour of Shepard's dress came up.

Since I'm a complete moron sucker for modding, I did stuff. And I might as well post it here, because why not?

DARK LEATHER -|- BRIGHT LEATHER

The original black dress is pretty shiny, which makes me think it's supposed to be leather. It got kind of wonky when I just brightened and recoloured it, so I added a suitable texture.

For those of you who feel you have enough enemies without pissing off Space PETA (or just really care about the shifty looking cows), a third option:

CLOTH

...it's very shiny for cloth, and looks a bit coarse, but the files are only 1024x1024, so the textures have to be kind of big if they're to be recognizable at all.

You need Texmod to make these work. Instructions are provided along with the download.

This is my first attempt at doing anything 3D-graphics-related (with the exception of my attempt to create a monocle for my character in KoTOR, but that never went anywyere). Feel free to tell me things, and stuff.

Eh... this isn't one of those pub games where you're supposed to spot the differences? I'm not known for being to keen on details, but I can't find any...

(Something tells me you've got a hidden nude option somewhere though, aye?)

yes but you are not getting it until you find the differences

Seriously I'm not sure what to tell you? The first two have the same texture but one is darker than the other. The last one gives the dress a different texture.

If you can't tell the difference between the edits and the original, you need stronger glasses.

Hmm, brown skin and golden neclase, I sense a theme here, called "Bling-bling".[/raceism] OK, so it looks a pretty good.
And hidden nude option, oh why, why not just:

I do have a question though, why in the frell would the mod need a TexMod to run? Can't one just name the texture files with their proper names and put them into the proper folders(override folder or whatever it is just like in Dragon Age mods)...

Oh please this is the future there is no racism here.

Except against batarians. They should all just get sucked into a black hole or something.

But they may give it indigestion. That wouldn't be pretty.

(Still prettier than batarians though.)

Because Dragon Age was meant to be modded and contains tools for doing so, but they basically went out of their way to prevent people from modding Mass Effect. Sucks, but there's not much we can do about it.

Because the person who inspired it wanted a brown dress.

You may find one of these to your liking.

I meant I couldn't tell the difference amongst the edits, not between those and the original. Now that you point them out, I suppose I can see them. I guess. Though I don't know if they're significant enough to provide different options. A "purple" option (or whatever other colour) would make more sense. But hey, don't let my orcish insensibilities get in the way of your fashion sense, Rupert :D.

Because I could, that's why. :P

Like I said, they wanted it brown, and purple has been done already. Maybe other colours in the future.

How about White(or actually whitish with some gray, and black necklace), Blue(both light and dark with possibly a neon green necklace), Pink... for just a few.

Because Dragon Age was meant to be modded and contains tools for doing so, but they basically went out of their way to prevent people from modding Mass Effect. Sucks, but there's not much we can do about it.

... but the real answer is that we don't have the tools to make files that the game accepts, so we use a tool to make them, and the Texmod is that tool(so it's not actually a mod at all  ). And it only needs to be ran one time per alteration, just like the RCW ME2 ModManager(.exe) .
