Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim today, see the trailer here or here. IF they managed to get rid of Gamebryo, I'll definitely give this some thought.

The fiercest threat to the world of Elder Scrolls returns! The fifth chapter to the epic series from Bethesda debuts at the Spike Video Game Awards in 2010!

Heh, that's definitely a major factor in deciding whether I buy this or not. Seriously. Beards rule.

The official site is up to speed now, and the official forums have opened.

We can now confirm that the TES V: Skyrim engine is all-new. And it looks fantastic.

It's a new graphics/gameplay engine built internally. We'll have more details down the road.

Apparently you can already pre-order the game... talk about fast. We haven't even seen a screenshot yet (I looked around, no leaked footage available).

Yup! I already pre-ordered my copy on GameStation.co.uk. No box art, just a placement image... So yeah, I was just as surprised!

After the whole Oblivion fiasco, I'm going to wait for more info on this one before pre-ordering.

Ye gods! It's already available for pre-order on Game.co.uk as well, at £5 reduction from RRP. Nah - I've already helped line Game's pockets by pre-ordering DA:2 and Witcher:2. Like AS, I want to see some screenshots and trailers first.

I didn't think Oblivion was that much of a fiasco but I did heavily mod it before starting out and I admit I haven't been able to find it in me to settle in for a second runthrough. I've started, but I'm easily distracted from it. And I'm sorry but there's no way I'll play the Shivering Isles expansion again at all, at all.

What I want to know is, how many voice actors have Bethesda hired for this?

Aside from that, I can't wait!

(but randomly generated quests...? I'unno.)

There are quite a few magazine scans around the internets for Skyrim now, some of which you can find in this thread. Some more at YouTube.

The game looks pretty good, but I think I'll have to build myself a new computer before I can fully appreciate it. Oh well, there are so many games coming this year that it might be worth it.

And the Sacred Ashes trailer is very similar to the Caradhras scene in The Fellowship of the Ring. There are other examples as well, it's not that rare.
