Hello, I am considering doing a fresh installation of bg/totsc using the 4-in-1 boxset.

I understand that a special 'uk patch' is required (I am from the uk) for the 4-in-1 boxset to get the game to run (last time I tried this was 18 months ago, I believe the affected program is totsc).

I have seen much discussion about this on the internet but I have not been able to find anywhere where it is possible to download this special uk patch for the 4-in-1 boxset.

Please could someone provide a link (or other direction) so I can download the uk patch.

Thanks!

p.s. I already have the following 2 patches: 'BGTalesUK5512.exe' and 'BGII-ThroneofBhaal_Patch_26498_ENGLISH.exe'

I've got the 4 in 1 boxset and never have I had to use any special UK patches. I was able to run the game straight away.

I believe the reason for that is because, by mistake, some of the 4-in-1 boxsets shipped to the uk are the us language version of the game (i.e. not regionally compatible)

see here: http://forums.biowar...675557&forum=19

last time I got round this problem by installing the game by using the half dozen or so cd's that I had originally for the game from 10 years ago. Would be so much easier just to install by using the dvd's tho. Perhaps the 'uk patch' referred to is the one that I already have? i.e. BGTalesUK5512.exe

What is the version and private build description for the existing BGmain2.exe you have? (Right click on BGMain2.exe->Properties->Version tab)

Note I already have the game fully installed already, not from the 4-in-1 boxset, but from the multitude of cd's that I already have from when I bought the game originally some 10 years ago. The game already installed on my C drive is therefore already patched up (and running with an old version of the excellent bgt mod). I was just looking to revisit the game at some point and do a fresh installation, if possible by using the dvd's from the 4-in-1 boxset that I also have.

In the 'Version' tab of the file 'BGMain2.exe', it says -

File version: 1.3.0.1

Description: Tales of the Sword Coast

(running windows xp)

There is some additional information available in that tab window -

Language = English (United States)
Private Build Description = 5512

Chances are the re-released 4-in-1 sets have the updated patches already applied, i know mine did. I had the original cd versions, but when i seen the combi offer (gamestop where selling it for €4.99 reduced from €20) i couldnt resist getting it, just in case the old discs where scratched and also for convenience of not having to swap out 6 discs for bg1/totsc.

You can always leave the old folder as is, and install a new fresh copy elsewhere. I have a few installation or combinations, one for BGT-Weidu installed at C:\BGT\Baldur's Gate & C:\BGT\BGII - SoA, another on E:\Black Isle\BGII - SoA for testing stuff and one that installed to run Classic Adventures E:\Black Isle\CA

My pc crashed a few times last few months, so lost the reg entries of the installations which made it easier to run the setup again and point to a new folder, and of course i can manually load which game i want by running the main exe in a particular folder: BGMain2.exe, BG2Main.exe etc, whichever applies to a particular game.

If for some reason your BGI discs arent up to date, then the BGTalesUK5512.exe is the one you want to apply after installation of Baldurs Gate (then apply no-cd cracks if you prefer) You can check the version & build after installation to see if it the BGTalesUK5512.exe is required.

That was my reason for buying the dvd boxset as well, I still have the original cd's which I can use to install tho it is a hassle. I use the no-cd thing as well which helps after installation. The game can now be bought by way of digital download so I guess the scratched cd thing has become a non-issue.
