I know that the Setup is running, because I check on it in the Processes tab of Task Manager. I've tried running it as an administrator, I've tried running it in compatibility mode with Windows XP (I'm running Windows 7), and neither of them have worked. So, anyone got any suggestions?

Stick to this one, since it's in the correct forum.

And if that doesn't work(the install to another computer), then there is really nothing you can do cause the CD's are probably damaged... other than buy new game.

Not really, as the BGT-WeiDU doesn't use the Windows registry to find the game file, you give the folder yourself... and I should know, I wrote this.Wouldn't that cause issues with game-unifying mega-mods like Baldur's Gate Trilogy?

An Assertion failed in
D:\BGSourceUpdate_TOTSC\dev\chitin\ChDimm.cpp at line number 609
Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data\SFXSound.bif
What is it saying the problem is, and how do I solve it?

Googling that gives this... did you make a full install ? And open the baldur.ini file and copy paste the next few lines after the "[Alias]" ...ChDimm.cpp at line number 609
