Afternoon, adventures. I've run into a technical issue and would like your thoughts. When I arrive at the deserted town, the gameplay stutters and slows. This doesn't occur in when I enter a building, however - it just happens when I'm walking around outside. I should add that I don't have this trouble any other location nor is it problem with hardware. The game itself runs great. In trying to solve the problem, I've left the area and come back, and quit the game and reloaded, to no avail. I'm running the 1.4 version and the install was fine. Thanks for your help!

...

It might help if you post your WeiDU.log, and list the party members you had at the time. And have you tried the advices here, especially the 1-7 & 14 & 15 ?

Thanks for the direction. I changed the ambient sound option in the .ini and that seemed to do the trick. I didn't realize the audio element in the FFT mod was so heavy in that particular land area. As I mentioned before, I've had no technical issues in the game at all and it's run perfectly up to that point, inside and outside.

It isn't, so I have no idea what's going wrong. There are normal Bioware areas (e.g. Waukeen's Promenade) that have far more ambients associated with them than I have in Porthpentyrch. It's just possible then that you are going to run into the same problem in all of the new major areas - just a heads up.

Hmm, the problem is not the amount, but the specific files that are associated with the area... it might be that Stein's BGII game doesn't have a file that your's does, and so that single one file causes the huge lag cause it doesn't exist in Steins file, but the computer tries to access it every second like a thousand times. Or that's our theory... on the particular bug, as it has been seen forever, well at least as long as I have been here. And that's why its cure is one of the first advices in the linked help FAQ. :P

PS: So it's not actually your fault, Yovaneth. ;)

On an unrelated front...now that I've taken up the mission from the lighthouse, I'm unfortunately getting a CTD via the river-cave when I attempt to move my party through the (..."if you had the right tool") exit that my thief opened up.

That door should not have been pickable as it upsets both the onscreen information and some of the party dialog - fixed.

CTD: post your balder.err and baldur.log please? It's not the fact that you've lockpicked the door because I've juist done that here with no problems.

Thanks for following up, Yovaneth. The .err and .log files in the main folder are empty.

See the topic 'CTD with patch 14 in the cave area under Porthpentyrch' above for detailed information and instructions on how to fix the problem.

Bugger - how the hell did I miss that?
