Hello,

I have successfully installed the megamod and I thought it worked but then it freezes after character creation for starting in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.

baldur.err says:

Line: 179

Exp: FALSE

Msg: Tiled object resref not found
Run Debugger?

---------------------Start Logging Session---------------------

What should I do?

I am using 1366x768, which was set through the widescreen mod during install. I left the BGConfig resolution at 800x600.

Other miscellaneous info, I am running a 64-bit version of Windows 7. Also, I installed the game to the Program Files folder on accident, and then read something that said I could just copy it to another folder, which I did. Would that affect it at all? I did change the location references in the baldur.ini files.

One other thing, I tried starting a BG2 game, instead of one for both, and the BG2 game worked. It was partway through the movies when I shut it off.

Hello,

I too would like some information on this problem as it's the one i keep getting in my past 5 installs.
Doing everything by the book with the installs (game was working fine if a little slow up to an unfortunate hdd wipe) but im getting the same "An assertion failed in CTiledObject.cpp at line number 179 Programmer says: Tiled Object resref not found"

I can only note 2 things that seemed suspicious. One is Aurora Shoes and Boots mod failing during install
The second and more notable would be that during the download part McAffe reports trojans (and autodeletes). The antivirus is off after the downloads are complete and before the installation begins.
The addons aparently guilty of causing the AV to react are: portablehole; KonTwk; Eldoh; Quayle; SNAKES

Any chances that the files become corrupt resulting in this error?

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks :)

P.S. additional info: resolution atempted: 4 times 1024X768; 1 time 1280X720; install type standard, version bws_9-20110501

Have you cleaned the your cache, temp and tempsave folders ?
If you still get that, read my signature about and the baldur.err file copy paste it's content after you run into it, if you do.

Yes, i tried clearing the cache/temp folders.
I will try to redo the install with the AV off during the download section and see how that works out. I still have the nagging feeling that the AV deletes some files on a whim. (combined with a faint memory that i did that the time i got the game working)
Ill put a reply regardless of the outcome (also now i know where to look so i can give more details :P )

Thanks for the reply.

WOW i cant believe it.... it works !!! :)

Ill try and make a short list of what i did differently from past installs:

-deactivated AV (McAffe) while Dl-ing missing addons (kept previous BWS Downloads folder)
-made shure the addons that i listed above were deleted when i copy-pasted the addon folder
-deactivated SpyBot (dont even know why i had that on)
-didnt convert saves when i installed tales of the sword coast (doubt it matters)

Also the whole install process seemed alot different from the previous tries despite using the exact same version in 4 of the tries. (but that might just be paranoia)
Im very very happy that this time (the 4 previous installs of this version didnt have this) the menu icon changed along with BGT menu ("Elminster Wielding Sword" background if im not mistaken)

I'll run a full PC scan and.....hope for the best and that the game will still be working.
I'll post after.

Hope it helps.

Hi! Maybe I have a similar problem than the one before me, except that my error reads: An Assertion failed in InfGame.cpp at line number 6377.

This happens only in multiplayer mode, after char has been created and the game started. During the loading of the intro, the game stops, and the error appears.

Can anyone help with this? I don't know what other data is important to add. I used BWS to install all the mods, fixes, and tweaks.

Thanks a lot.

I don't know if this help, but if it's the multiplayer mode start, you can start a single player, then save the game, and exit the game, go to the game folder and move the "save" folders content to folder called "mpsave", and if there isn't one, make one, start the game and go and load the multiplayer save you just made, create the other characters you would like to have in your party, and save the game... I would also then move the save back to the normal game folder if you don't have multiple players ... usually people want to have multiple player created characters, not actually play in multiplayer mod.

PS: Yes, I am Jarno Mikkola by the ways.

OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Hello Jarno. Yes you are hard to miss :)

I did try as you said, but I am also unable to save the SP game. Doesn't give the reason, only reports that it failed and asks whether I want to quit or not. But at least I can start a game. So it seems I have a bigger problem now. I think I did all the BWS by the book. Made saves for BG1, BG2, and TOB, but of course only single player saves. I tried searching the BG folder for InfGame.cpp, but nothing showed up.

Loading the single player Autosave from before BWS (which I had to make, because BWS asked me to) gives me the exact same error of 6377.

You are right in saying that MP would only be used for party creation, and then moved to SP to play.

The .cpp files are temporary files the game uses to work, and so they only exist when the game runs, as they contains C programming language.

I am not even sure if reinstalling would do any good. Not even google throws up any hits with the 6377 error. Must have really hit a landmine with that.

Yeah, it's a combination of unique install that throws up the result quite much.

Erhm copy paste the baldur.ini's content to a post if you can. The file open with Notepad.
