File Name: Stivan the Hunter
File Submitter: the bigg
File Submitted: 01 Jan 2012
File Category: Miscellaneous Released Mods

This mod adds Stivan the Hunter, a new joinable NPC, to Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and its expansion, Throne of Bhaal, complete with the usual array of banters, friendships, quests and interjections.

Stivan is a Chaotic Neutral Male Halfling Fighter/Thief whom you can find in the Bridge District (a map marker is added to help you find him) and will join any party.

Bio:

If asked about his past, STIVAN doesn't hesitate before narrating his life with abundance of detail. Born in Athkatla to a family of wine merchants, the Halfling saw his parents being slaughtered by a ravaging flock of seagulls, an attack he survived by sheer luck. Thus his hatred for what he defines "the feathered enemy", which he claims to be responsible of his next misfortunes as well - losing his father's activity and possessions to a rich merchant who, rather than help him, left him penniless.
Forced to live on Athkatla's streets, the Halfling happily accepted CHARNAME's offer to join his band, glad to offer him his knowledge of the city and thankful for having found a new ally on his crusade against seagulls.

This is amazing! Congratulations on releasing this, thebigg. Definitely including Stivan on my next playthrough.

Oh and...how long was this in the making, again? ;)

It's hard to count exactly because I'm a terminal procrastinator. However, I'd estimate that the current release (SoA-only) represents about one year of work (split 35/65 between me and Giuseppe).

You put in Miscellaneous Mods, but there are more than 3 200 strings!!! I think your mod should have his own forum.

Anyway, congratulations for the release. :)

The SHS staff has to review the mod before awarding a forum, and there wasn't time for a 12 Days release.

BTW: if you're going to translate, if at all possible do so from the Italian version (or at least cross-reference) - the mod was originally written in Italian.

I know it has been asked before (in mostly all the wrong places :) ), but can anyone shed any light on these warnings (which are generated during installation in a BiG World Project GUI setup) and confirm whether or not they are going to cause any major problems within a BiG World Project game? - The force install I know about (and there is a sound reason for it), but the errors happen regardless of whether the install is forced or not.

Most likely harmless things - by default these warnings are turned off, but I forgot to disable those warnings when I released the mod.
