Hello, guys.

I'm gonna start playing BG for the very first time and browsing the forums I saw that there is a huge database of mods. EasyTuTu and BGWeiDU caught my eye (although I think they kinda do the same thing, someone please correct me if I'm wrong) and I was wondering if you could suggest me mods that can enhance the gameplay, sidequests and stuff. Really looking foward to the best BG experience one can have.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the BG madness!

Probably best if you stick with the least possible mods just to fix stuff and add a little flavour, mainly for BG1 part so I'd say (in approximate order of install, you should ask specifics for this in another forum maybe if no one with the knowledge comes here) :

- Widescreen (If you own such kind of screen) at G3
- BG2Fixpack (fixes major bugs or stuff that Bioware overlooked) at G3
- BGT (to play BG1/ToTSC/BG2:SoA/ToB in one go with the better BG2 engine) here on SHS
- BG1 NPC Project (or your mates in BG1 will just be silent) at G3
- BG1 NPC Music (that goes with NPC Project) at G3
- IEP Banters (Interactions Expansion Project for BG2 part, adds some banters for koinable NPCs) here on SHS
- Another Banter Pack (No idea how compatible they are but it should be fine to have both, for BG2 as well) at PPG
- Unfinished Business(Not really mandatory but it adds some funny little quests) at PPG
- BG1UB (Same as above but for BG1 part) at PPG

And that should be it pretty much ^_^

Make sure you read the documentation for each mod and their components, avoid components that you don't feel comfortable with or ask on forums for specifics. Most (all?) PPG mods haven't been updated in a while so not sure how buggy/incompatible they are overall.
BG2Fixpack has an update coming soon (could take at least a month though) to fix fixes that are still a bit buggy  if you can wait until then!

Lastly, always update your game with latest patches, if they aren't already included in your game (like if you buy them on GoG or something, I don't really know how they work, I still got my almost 14-15 years old CDs  (and downloaded ISOs to enjoy the english mods  )

Thank you very mich for the suggestions, Beleg33.

I'll certainly need help to install the mods. I spent most of the afternoon reading about some mods and, as you said, ended up realizing that it's not a very good idea to mix a lot of them. Mainly because of compatibility issues.

I already made a topic at "IE General Help" to see if someone can help me with the install order of some mods.

Thanks!

I would actually advise you to not use any content mods whatsoever for your first time, only tweaks and fixes, and Tutu or BGT. Play the games on their own merits first, and THEN add stuff. ;) Besides, the mods will make much more of an impact that way, and it adds replayability value.

Hear, Hear! This can't be repeated, shouted, proselytized, beat-over-the-head-with-a-stick often enough-- if you're new to the game, stick to the (original) Game!

You only need one baseline fixpack--and THAT IS IT. No other mods whatsoever.

Play BG1 together with TotSC - a BG1 fixpack (I don't know what the at-the-moment preferred one is); then...
BG2 with ToB - with (for example) G3 BG2 Fixpack

Play each series to the end.
Once complete, then you can cycle back and decide on mods.

btw The biggest, most useful resource that will help you--from installing the games and mods, to playing them--is the Search function on the various BG-related websites and forums. Since you're a beginner, every question that you have has surely been answered already somewhere. It's more important that you find and read those contributions than open up new discussions.

If after doing that, you still have questions, feel free to post in an existing thread related to your query.

I *would* use Tutu or BGT in BG1, like I said, but... that's mainly for kits and weapon proficiencies. Also dual-wielding!

I agree. The BG1 mechanics are clunkier, no point in not using BG2 engine refinements.

I revise my earlier statement--I agree with you both.
