This is one area where Skyrim is lacking in a great extent. I find items in the game have almost no descriptions. You find weapons, rings, amulets, spellbooks, all kinds of items and the only thing you get is a list with weight, damage -if applicable- and price. I am not saying that BGs, IWDs, Torment, where better games for it. The overall quality of skyrim and its excellence in so many other areas would make such a statement folly. I only want to say that i miss right clicking and reading those few lines with a history for the item i have just found.
I also miss the identification magic spell. It seems that there is no need for identfication of magical items in Skyrim. Do all PCs have it on automatic?
How do you justify instant knowledge of function when you grab anything magical that you know nothing about?
Where are the descriptions? Identification?

"Man, in his discussions with other men about questions of religion, statecraft, geography, trade, has always reached a point in the discussion where it has seemed wise to reply to his opponent by disemboweling him or knocking his brains out."
My name is Thomas Hockenberry, Ph.D., and I think the "Ph.D." stands for "Pouring His Draft."
"The study of modern science today is being done by the brain of primitive man."

I like reading items' personal histories, so I guess I agree with you. Though I don't really care too much about actual identification...
