AR5201 crash

Hi ho, having an issue with Yaga-Shura's temple, AR5201. The bummer crashes my game D:

Error message reads "Tiled object resref not found" and I am none the wiser, lol.

I have already tried a fresh install of SoA, ToB, patch 26498, BGT and the other mods I use, but this area is still messed up for some reason. And I'm sure I didn't mess with this area in DLTCEP or anything... ... Honest =x

Having the same issue here.
Checked data and override. ar5201, ar5202, ar5203 and ar5204 don't exist.
So it seems you couldn't continue with the whole storyline.

I was really beginning to fear my whole game was lost till i read your post here. :lol2:

Hopefully someone can fix or someone knows how to put the files in again.

Did you actually do a full installation of Throne of Bhaal? You need to do that in order to get all areas specific to that expansion pack.

If you did and the areas still aren't there, then copy AR5200.bif from the TOB CD to CD5\data, and try again. (Also, you should uninstall all mods, then reinstall the official patch, then the mods again).

Also, you should be using BGT 1.14. Especially if you want Coran in your party (long story). Oh, and my version is 7z compressed, so you need 7z to open it (I think you needed it for a while on this site anyway)
At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

*scratches head* Well, I actually do have an AR5201.are in my Override... Lol.
But either way - is it absolutely necessary to reinstall everything for it to work after copying the .bif from the CD, though?

Oh, they are there already, but I tried anyway - no change, still crashing. Reinstalling will be my last resort, though.

Btw, I opened up AR5201 in DLTCP, and the map looks like a BG1 maze on the preview, just like the bug I had with Cloakwood's wyvern cave (which I guess is an old bug in the version I use... ). But in that case I just replaced the .bif and it solved it. Don't know if this is any useful info, but oh well.

Tried copying the files to /data of my installation. All of them to be sure...
Did as u said i should.

While the script was running i got meself a lot of error messages. Said smth about couldn't biff some areas. Don't know if thats got something to say.

But i read carefully when the script was runnin. I think i saw the part when the ToB part is patched. At least i saw the ToB areas i think. Well all areas except area5200 is biffed or patched. Although i just copied it to /data before runnin the script.

Dont know for sure what to do.
If nothin can be changed i will have to re install the whole game...again. I only have the old CD version, and it isn't funny shufflin 11 CDs :crying:

(You really should just be using 5 cds to install BG2/ToB as a whole, BTW)

Make sure you use BGT 1.14, instead of the 1.13 hosted on the SHS download manager. Do full installs, install the fixpack before, and then install the linked-to version of BGT.
At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

Sigh. Right. I guess it's a reinstall yet again.

I'll try CLUA'ing myself to AR5201 when I've finished the BGT install.
I'll let you know how it worked out...

Edit: Yup, seems to be working so far, with all mods installed. Reinstalled everything from scratch, including BG1 lol.
Kind of worrying not to know what caused the crash in the first place, but oh well ^^

Please use BGT 1.14 (now in the download manager) in order to fix this problem.
At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

Hi guys, I have the same problem, and please let me contribute a bit of my own finding and ask for some further help...

 

First things first: I can't update BGT to 1.14, save from the very last resort of doing another big world installation from scratch, and I would very much prefer not to do that.

 

So, with the information from this page, I toyed around in NI regarding the problematic AR5201 stuffs.

 

Before tampering: the error occurs as what was described above, "assertion failed; CTiledObject.cpp; command line 179; resref not found...etc", and the game will crash when the loading circle (the circular yellow bar that fills upwards when you load a map in a loading screen) is still very low, about 20%.

 

Trying to update the biffs containing AR5201.are (i.e. data\TB#Gen5.bif) using backed up ToB AR5201.are found in the override folder (the backup game created PRIOR to big world modding) usually results in failure, NI can't seem to update the biff, always return with error, and did not explain why. On some rare occasions where it does update properly, the same error pops up whenever I try to MoveToArea.

 

I then looked deeper, checking all files (all biffed I believe) that has the name AR5201 in it. I found these:

AR5201.ARE, *.BCS, *.MOS, *.TIS, *.WED, *HT/LM/SR.BMP     (where *=AR5201)

The previews for MOS, TIS, and BMPs are that of the BG1 firewine bridge, not the expected fire giants lair.

 

The .WED file, upon comparison, showed map dimension layouts smaller than the original AR5201 found in ToB backup.

 

I then proceeded to export all the above backed up files from my backed up ToB game using NI, then put these files into the current modded games' override folder.

Checked map preview in NI for AR5201.are, no problem, correctly showed fire giant's lair.

 

I then tried MoveToArea again. This time, the loading bar loaded to completion, but - game crashes, without posting any detailed error messages (simply says the program stopped working). TobEx notepad file did not record anything neither, the latest entry was the assertion failed related to the original problem.

 

To authenticate, I removed the AR5201.WED file from the override, then tried again, this time I reproduced the failed assertion error.

 

This was as far as I got to, ran out of ideas from here on. :(

Hope this may shine some new light into the matter? Am I missing any other files or steps or secret maneuvers? I feel like I am close on solving the matter without reinstalling everything, lol.

Well, you could --change-log the ar5201.* files and open the resulting ar5201.000x.* files with NearInfinity and see which of them seem to fit each others and use them by removing the .000x. from the file name and placing them to the override folder(ps make a back up from the originals)...

Also you might not get anything from the ToBEx debugging logs if you won't enable their usage:

1. Open BG2installfolder/TobEx_ini/TobExCore.ini in a simple text editor(Notepad).
2. Under the [Debug] section, set all values of 0 to 1. Save the file.
