Hadn't heard of this before today, but just gave the demo a whirl and had a good time

If I had to compare it to other games (all, what, 8 of them I've played), I guess I'd go with a mix between Planescape Torment (it's wordy, and, hurrah, combat isn't necessary!) and Skyrim (quite non-linear). Looks-wise, perhaps Temple of Elemental Evil?
There's loads of stat-checks, which I absolutely love. No companions or anything like that (as far as I'm aware), and the town you start in doesn't feel that interactive. The combat is ridiculously difficult (which I think is a plus, because it just means you have to AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS, like real life, but others might not agree). You're punished for acting stupidly, so you have to think about what you're doing carefully. So yeah... fun! I'd buy it.
