The good news: This is my second time through this mod. I loved the first time so much, when I hit a patch of real-life being extra mean to me I decided to let Eddy-babes cheer me up. It's a truly wonderful mod

The problem:
Spoiler

I've done a few searches and read the topic names, and haven't found this problem elsewhere on the forum. My apologies if I've missed it.

I am using the latest patch - 1.5 In desperation I actually re-installed it after the problem started. The only non-Weidu mod I have installed is G3 widescreen-v3.05. I've given the Weidu log below, but I'd be happy to list the Weidu mods seperately if that would help.

Here's my Weidu log. I confess I don't know how to find my Error log

Surprisingly, autopause is your problem. The exit from the cave is not a normal area exit as it has to decide where to send you - unrestored Porthpentyrch or restored Porthpentyrch. Consequently, there are actually two 'trigger' areas - a trap and an information point. My guess is that autopause is causing you to stop over the trap. Try entering the cave with autopause turned off - it shouldn't cause too much of a problem because it takes a couple of seconds for the shadow fiends to realise you are there.

For v2.0 (which will be uploaded as soon as the forum upload problems are solved) I've reduced the area of that trap to the smallest possible size that will still work. Hopefully, autopause will then cease to trigger it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I used Options -> Gameplay -> Autopause to turn off all the autopause triggers. Unfortunately this just meant I was expelled from the cave immediately, instead of after a pause. I tried lots of different combination of autopause triggers ... but no joy :(

btw ignore the bit about second time through - it belonged in another post  ... total brain fade on my part. I blame the pills (actually for once thats a valid excuse ;)

Try these - it's the updated area for v2.0. The entrance (the place the NPCs appear) is also slightly further in, so the shadow fiends may react a bit quicker. Drop the two files into your override and try again.

Why complicate things? I had the same problem and I just went into the cave with 2 characters at the time...

I have to assume that there will be a party of six characters.

Success - yahoo! Many, many thanks! btw there are six of us - as I just love the interactions with the NPCs I always use as many as I can.
