inXile is working on Planescape: Torment's spiritual successor using an original setting called Numenera, developed by Monte Cook. It will be named Torment: Tides of Numenera - check out the official site below. inXile successfully funded Torment via Kickstarter. You can watch all the Torment videos on inXile's YT channel.

Numenera is a science fantasy roleplaying game set in the far distant future. Humanity lives amid the remnants of eight great civilizations that have risen and fallen on Earth. These are the people of the Ninth World. This new world is filled with remnants of all the former worlds: bits of nanotechnology, the dataweb threaded among still-orbiting satellites,  bio-engineered creatures, and myriad strange and wondrous devices. These remnants have become known as the numenera.

It certainly has a familiar feel to it. ;)

With Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity underway, I'm definitely looking forward to Tides of Numenera. I'm hoping inXile will stick with their idea of using Kickstarter for this one as well.

Definitely looks interesting!  I love the concept art they made available on the web site, looks gorgeous!

I love that Mark Morgan is doing the soundtrack, I really love his work (and his soundtrack for Planescape: Torment was no exception).

The official site has launched, and inXile is asking for some pledge reward ideas for the upcoming Kickstarter campaign. You can create a user account for the site here.

@BrianFargo

The @kickstarter for Torment goes live at 6am PST for those who were asking. Kickstarter gave us some nice praise today on its content.

The Kickstarter campaign is live - it opened around 24 minutes ago and already has 113K USD. There are still some early bird tiers available if you're interested in those.

What I'd REALLY like is another game in the actual Planescape setting. I don't see it happening, though. So, I pledged.

Here's an explanation for those wondering why they're doing this when Wasteland 2 isn't even out yet. I know I did.

Yeah, just getting the Planescape license to work with would be difficult enough.

Ugh, I'm doomed.  I saw "soundtrack" by Mark Morgan and pledged for that tier.  First Jon Shafer's At the Gates, then Dreamfall Chapters, and now this.  Doomed, I tell you!
