After trying some mods the previous times i played BG2 i wanted to play some mega mods so i installed BWP with various mods and included NEJ. I experienced the first issue while entering Ulcaster in BG1 and giving me a journal entry about Hothgran and Imoen but i continued as it never happened. But problems started with portals and dialogs in BG2, while in CI the game was crashing when entering the first portal (i had cleaned first level) and after many attempts i went to Easthaven and played through.

While playing in some cases during dialogs the game crashed or after a conversation it gave a message: NO VALID REPLIES OR LINKS and the game continued.

This was very frustrating since after major battles (Lizard king, Talonite priestess and mother Egenia etc) a conversations is initiating and the game crashes. With some patients and retries i manage to pass but i reached a dead end and this is at Arundel's portal. Most of the times while entering portal a conversation starts and after CHARNAME, MInsc,Imoen and CHARNAME responds the game crashes. But in a couple of times after CHARNAME the picture of Shar Teel appears with the familiar NO VALID REPLIES OR LINKS  option as conversation and afterwards the portal doesn't work so i am stuck here!!

Any suggestions please?

I'm sorry but your WeiDU,log shows a really messed up install :( NeJ before the BG2Fixpack? That too without the v694 patch. A reinstall would be wiser than trying to debug your bugs...

Get the BWS and follow jarno's instructions in this post to reinstall the mods in your WeiDU.log in the correct BWP order :) Saves will NOT be compatible though so you'll have to do a new game (which hopefully actually works this time)

Thanks for the answer Lollorian,

i am too far in the game to start over but i figured out that the problem with the dialogs were because of Shar Teel propably i have included a mod for her that is not compatible. So i just let her go and with Dar in my group all works well!!  :lol2:

Now that i continued to the Severed Hand i came to another question that i cannot find any answer even after a thorough search...having a walkthrough that downloaded from the forum i saw that after fixing the astrolab you can go back to future (CI) or to Kalduhar in order to give Mythal book to mage and then take Arundels portal. But actually i figured out that it is possible to go to Dorn's Deep something that the walkthough doesn't mention even in future quests and that bothers me. The journal tells me the evil is hiding there, the walkthrough doesn't even mention the place as a quest and the dialog to go there is a bit tricky as an option!!  How i am a supposed to turn back if i choose to select this option and play all this dungeon? (google search for the Deep shows Icewind Dale walkthrougs and the place looks big to just spend 2-3 days there and find a dead end :crying: )

Has anyone played through it?

i went to Easthaven and played through. While playing in some cases during dialogs the game crashed or after a conversation it gave a message: NO VALID REPLIES OR LINKS and the game continued.

No crashes or invalid dialogue options on my end, but the very first dialogue upon reaching Easthaven had 3 options with the same text. Also when you embark on the expedition to Kuldahar, Hrothgar will ask you if you want him to join your party, If you choose no, he will say that he will meet you there and nothing... you are stuck in Easthaven. Also IMO the Tomb of Kresselack is little unbalanced the 'demon specters' are extremely overpowered, while the two temple guardians on second floor with nice armor are extremely weak.

Hi cc4,

as you can read at my 3rd quote the dialog problem was probably from Shar Teel and a mod i installed for her. When i replaced her with Dar all went smooth.

As for the demons they where extremely easy...with protection from evil cast they where standing there doing nothing while i hacked them!!!

Have you played through the Dorn's Deep or you just passed it and went back in time?

Nice that you got it fixed  Grab some debugging tools like shadowkeeper and nearinfinity for when you run into more bugs though :P

There aren't any Dorn's Deep in NEJ. Vlad hasn't done part 3 yet (maybe never?).

Hi micbaldur,

i though so because of the walkthrough i have BUT how in the nine hells i am playing the last 3 hours in Dorn's Deep? (even a cutscene was there but with a high pitch fast forword voice)

You mean that in part 3 it is planned to go there?

If there is nothing worth doing and especially no way out then i will load the save before astrolab and continue to CI.

Hi micbaldur,

i though so because of the walkthrough i have BUT how in the nine hells i am playing the last 3 hours in Dorn's Deep? (even a cutscene was there but with a high pitch fast forword voice)

Well i have played NEJ 2 times (first v6.02 and now v6. 8) from start to end and there aren't Dorn Deep (played Icewind Dale several times also). :P

Only areas Easthaven, Hills at Shore of Lake Dinneshere, Kuldahar Pass, Kuldahar, Vale of Shadows, Temple of the Forgotten God, Dragon's Eye and Severed Hand from Icewind Dale are ready in v 6.8.

But if you have v6.94 if NEJ then i may be wrong (planning to try v6.94 in my next BWP).

Out of curiosity what's the area code of your Dorn's Deep?

You mean that in part 3 it is planned to go there?

I don't know anything :ermm:  about part 3 (other than it's not ready :P ).

If there is nothing worth doing and especially no way out then i will load the save before astrolab and continue to CI.

Don't give up yet i might be wrong. :P

Update:

Sorry i'm wrong   you have v6.91 ( why not 6.94) and you are right there are more areas so Dorn's Deep is probably there.

Keep on playing don't stop now.

I tell you more after i make new BWP expert install and play it to NEJ Icewind Dale and Dorn's Deep well might take about 6 months. :P

You should really start using BWP. :P It's much better than anything else out here ot anywhere else (except in Poland maybe, i really want that IWD merge into BWP expert install). :(

well the journal says after giving Heartstone gem to Larrel that the evil is at Dorn's Deep and the dialogs are heading you to either go to Kuldahar or back to CI but i was trying some dialogs and while i choose to return to CI last moment it said something about Hrothgar putting out the mysterious black box of his and one of the dialog choices was something "ok, sent us to Dorn's Deep" and now here i am.

My version is 6.91...my only concern is not to stuck there :crying:

I also thought the newer version of Nej2 that was in the BWP guide did contain Dorn's Deep part.  On my last install I tried the newer version but only got ctd when I answered yes I want to be transported to Dorn's Deep.

So you can do the IWD part that starts in Easthaven and ends in the Astrolabe.  Then ask to be sent back (even though Hrothgar bitches a lot about it).

Then a week or so later you can be transported to Ulcaster to do that part.  I had a problem where I couldn't travel back to Amn again (everything on the map was greyed out because the game thought I was doing BG1 I suppose).  Ended up cluaing back to the Copper Coronet and could then move around the map normally again.

If you are actually playing through Dorn's Deep, you are doing better than me.

Oh yeah, after reading micbaldur's comments I remembered I did not install-

~SETUP-NEJ2V691.TP2~ #0 #7 // Additional content for Part II (beta)

The BWP guide said this was incompatible with something or other.  A few years ago I remember Erebusant said he had made some modifications of his own to make it work in a mega install.  Either he had to check with Vlad (the mod creator) or get permission, because i never saw the modified version added to BWP.  Sadly he has not been around for a long time now.  But I think our smart german friends of the BWP are working on further compatability. :new_thumbs:

Tell us how it is as you finish more of the mod.  IIRC Vlad has kept most of the creatures and areas etc. untouched from IWD (of course he adds a different plot and dialogues), but it has been years since I played IWD.

Ouh right, and I am a magical rabbit with blue stripes and all.

The difference between the level 1 party beatable versions of the IWD's Easthaven Cave and the NEJBG2's is way too radical to even think that.

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

I know zilch about Dorn's Deep or NeJ as a whole :D (I don't play with NeJ :P)

It's good that micbaldur joined in though... guy's practically an encyclopedia of walkthroughs for all the big mods in the BWP

There does exist a part 3 of NeJ (but I think it's only in the v691/4 series though  Didn't you have the v68 one installed? :P)

Maybe you should play Icewind Dale or at least NEJ they are fun.  Even better if you port Icewind Dale to BWP like those polish modders that would be even more fun. :P

Well i did have v6.8 and no Dorn's Deep. But i did check archive of v6.91 and there is more areas. So next BWP is with v6.94. :P

As for the Part 3 all i know is from Senka (she active at Black Wyrm Lair) what she said here that it doesn't exist.
