Version beta 0.2

  • BGEE is now supported,
  • improved compatibility with BGT (previously it worked only with older versions of BGT),
  • two new psionic powers: Inertial Armor and Concussion Blast,
  • improved graphical effects,
  • the bug with blank item descriptions has been fixed,
  • other changes.

 

 

BGEE install instructions

To install, reinstall or uninstall the mod, run "BGEE-w_psionics_unleashed.bat". The mod will be installed only for the english language. If you prefer another language open the "BGEE-w_psionics_unleashed.bat" with a text editing program and replace all instances of "en_US" with your language code (ds_CZ, de_DE, es_ES, fr_FR, pl_PL). Save and run the .bat file.

 

There is a difference between BG2 and BGEE new character creation process. In BG2 during the initial process you don't have to spend any points on weapon proficiencies, BGEE however forces player to spend 4 points. To eliminate this unintended advantage I have made it so that those points could be spend only on katana and scimitar, weapons that are unusable to psions. I have another soultion in mind for the future, but for the time being it will have to stay as it is.

BG:EE mages only have to pick one proficiency at character creation-- so why does BG:EE force your new classes to take 4?

On character creation screen your character is a warrior, the class is changed to mage after game already starts. You have to start as a warrior for 2 reasons:

1. there is no more free slots for mage kits on character creation screen,

2. if you would start as a mage game would force you to choose some starting spells and we don't want that for psions.

would it have been possible to add this class under monk? psionic abilities are not dissimillar to the idea of chi, and that would reduce the number of proficiencies needed at character creation...

Erhm, that still doesn't answer the original point, which is this, why not just use this:

The change is just the removal of the 2 points in the two spots making the game know that he won't get any proficiency points, as if my memory serves, this at least in BG2 should result with the fact that the proficiency points won't need to be assigned.

In case the BG2 game crashes post the content of your baldur.err file. To get it to record stuff, open up the 'baldur.ini' in your game folder with Notepad, and under the [Program Options] section in the file, make a new line and type in 'Logging On=1' (without the '' quotes, unless the line is already there)... Save the file and exit. Now go back into the game and try to reproduce the crash. Then look in your game folder again for the Baldur.err file and open it with the Notepad to analyze its contents, or let us do it.

This is how it works in BG2, in BGEE you are stack with proficiency points that you can't spend on anything and you can't progress to the next step.

hi,

 

mod isnt working with BG:EE's new patch, throws up error message about weaponprof? also Psion is unselectable on fighter menu

Thanks for letting me know. It seems like the newest patch broke kit installation with weidu add_kit command, I'll wait for someone to figure out how to fix it or for weidu update.
