Empty first level of Watchers Keep

I've run into a strange problem on the first level of Watchers Keep: it's essentially empty. Upon first entering the keep I found all the doors open, there were no enemies, no statues and no quest items (eg. the candle, the tinderbox etc. were all missing [there were some items in the containers though, like arrows and handwritten notes etc.]). The Archivist was were he's supposed to be..

This all occurred on a ToB save, I entered the Keep on the first possible opportunity, eg. after killing Gromnir. I visited the outside area before, still in SoA, to purchase Firetooth, but didn't receive the Vigil Stone and Ritual Scroll until ToB.

Fortunately I've got an older save of the same game, back in SoA, just before killing Irenicus the first time, and when I go to the keep in that save it works just fine, so between the end of SoA and ToB something has gone wrong..

I've had problems with Watchers Keep before on an older save, that time the third level was broken, the monsters didn't appear and Yakman didn't have any dialog.. Don't have that save anymore unfortunately though.. And I'm not entirely sure it was on the same install I'm on now.
