Models from PS:T?

Hello, I've noticed that the mod included some models from PS:T, I however wonder if it does include all the models? In particular I am interested if it includes player character models from PS:T, thank you for your answer.

I think there are no character/party npc models, no. (Maybe there is a port of Annah's model somewhere on the Interwebs, at least I've got a faint memory of something like that, thought if it exists it isn't a IA content mod, I think. :P)

 

That being said, I'm pretty sure Gwendolyne mentioned that he had ported a few (or many) PS:T models for his upcoming mod, so there is a chance this will include some player/party character models.

 

(The funny thing is, I actually ported the hammer wielding TNO animation a few years back, just for personal use, because it looks so freaking cool.. unfortunately all files I might have had left, died with my old computer.. :( )

I think if you take a look at the readme, you may be able to see if the animations you want have already been ported and included.

In his defense, the readme says 'Selection of Other Animations' and it is indeed not a comprehensive list of all available animations for IA. (*cough* like the stuff in my signature *cough* :P)

 

But, yes, that readme is indeed a very good start to look for available animations. :)

The components section of the readme describes more detail exactly which animations we implement, particularly the "More Planescape: Torment Animations" section. We ported all the paletted non-character animations and a few unpaletted animations available in other components (ghoul queen and night hag for example). Cuv ported some other unpaletted animations a while back, but they are in IWD instead of BG2 format and are not sized to BG2 scale so we can't really use them. (Incidentally, there are no werebears in the game that I know of, so we can't really use that either, although I suppose we could use the giant bear for cave bears or something).

There are now,.. kind of..! :P

 

The Bear Walker - a Werebear/Ranger Kit (Thought that one already includes the werebear animation.)

 

Anyway, I think the IA listing and readme are fine as they are.

(Tbh I've seen quite a few WeiDU logs in the past, that included the d2 bears component and it made me feel a little guilty :P)

Okay, so I took Cuv's excellent work and resized it down, and manually went in and removed most of the noticeable jitter. Looks pretty decent, save for the fact that unless it is an attack command, any movement goes to the normal walk, which makes her put away her punch-daggers. I'm going to fiddle around with it a bit more, but if anyone wants to take a look, I can see about uploading it somewhere.

As you can see, there are no paletted animations from PST. :(

@Bloody Hypocrite : you can check if a few of them might interest you : you could spare time not porting them as it will be done soon ! ;)

For the moment, I am really fed up with all those animations : I spent more than a year working on them and wasted time for the storyline content of my mod. I am just picking up one animation per week to polish it. The only two brand new animations I am working on are a Tarasque (640x640 px) and a shark, because I need them.

I focus now on redesigning my maps, trying to modelise them with Maya : without any hope of success for the moment ! :(

I think there are no character/party npc models, no. (Maybe there is a port of Annah's model somewhere on the Interwebs, at least I've got a faint memory of something like that, thought if it exists it isn't a IA content mod, I think. :P)
 
That being said, I'm pretty sure Gwendolyne mentioned that he had ported a few (or many) PS:T models for his upcoming mod, so there is a chance this will include some player/party character models.
 
(The funny thing is, I actually ported the hammer wielding TNO animation a few years back, just for personal use, because it looks so freaking cool.. unfortunately all files I might have had left, died with my old computer.. :( )

Egads, that's a whole lot of porting Gwedolyne! After just Annah I'm done for a while and I'm pretty sure Cuv did the lion's share by getting it ready for BG2. Is there a good test slot for animations that can easily be assigned in Shadowkeeper?

It depends on the format you are using.

 

If you are using Cuv stuff, his raw files fits the IWD format (MxxxA1, MxxxA1E, MxxxSD, MxxxSDE....) : rename your animation MSH1[A1], MSH1[A1E] .... and use the 0xea10 ic_shade slot in your cre file.

 

That's the way I tested my IWD format animations.

I am working on porting the remaining unpaletted PS:T animations - I have an algorithm for sizing them all accordingly to BG2 (varies per animation) and also a possible mechanism for automating the conversion process. I think Erephine said she had done the (few) remaining paletted animations (Nameless One etc.) but I haven't heard from her for some time. Also, IA will be updated so that the non-ANSI characters aren't necessary. All that may take some time though, as my efforts are currently committed elsewhere.

That would be fine cause I finally don't use it anymore, because of its randomly bugs. Sometimes, it crops one or two pixels columns either at right or left and paste them on the other side of the frame : one or two right columns are displaced on the left side when resizing them !

 

 

 

When you say "Also, IA will be updated so that the non-ANSI characters aren't necessary", do you mean that all the IA prefix codes will be changed ?

 

And quid of the externalization : is it possible to do it with ToBEx (and why not even scheduled), which would mean that a great part of the Core component would become obsolet ?

It means that the animation .bams will move to actually use a prefix now, instead of the whatever 1251-windows Codepage non-ansi alphabet, these:

Just FYI, I found this bit about bamresizer stuff not too long ago.

@Sam : yes, I have read that too, but it does not resolve my bugs. Here is a simple exemple of the glitches I must face.

ToBEx is no longer in current maintenance, though that might change if Ascension64 becomes more active. The Enhanced Edition has already externalized animations via 2da files (see here for example), so it is possible ToBEx could do this in theory. There was some talk about it ages ago, but I think it only got as far as fixing the bugs in the animation-specific 2da files for soundclips (mgho.2da etc.).

 

Edit: I don't see the specific bugs in your resized animation, though BAM Workshop can't display it (typical with some animations, for some reason I never figured out) and DLTCEP says "Animation loaded with errors" but other than that, the cycles I looked at looked fine. Are there specific cycles with issues?

Sorry Miloch.

 

I should have described the files.

 

Have a look at cycle 3 (frames 30 to 39) and specificly the shadows of the reduced bam (GWMSH1A1r) : zoom them and you will see what I mean.The right part of the shadow is cropped and pasted to the left part of the frame after being resized with Bamresize.

 

That's the reason why I had to reduce all the frames with a graphic editor before creating the bam files.

 

 

And I don't understand : I can display them in BamWorkshop (I and II), and with DLTCEP v7.6d without any problem...
