Hi,

On some Monitors the Fog of war in PS:T is flickering very annoying. There are some solution to this. One is to play the game in window mode. The other one is to play on a lowered resolution.

I know that it's not the fault of you GhostDog that this texture is flickering. But since Ghostdog is providing UI Textures i think he is the most experienced modder who can help me to solve this problem in another way. Thats why im asking this question in this forum. I hope you can help, since both ways to solve this problem have some downsides. The one(lowres) displays the fog of war in a very ugly way. The other one is.... well... not full screen! :D

The exact reason why it flickers is explained here:

http://www.gog.com/f...ramerate/post10

looks like the flickering occurs only at native resolution; i'd suggest it has more to do with lcd properties (http://www.lagom.nl/...t/inversion.php ) and regular pixel pattern used as a shadow to represent fog of war than with anything else, check this out:
1.) http://www.gog.com/u...c488dbc78f9.jpg
make your browser window smaller to be able to horizontal scroll this picture, I e.g. see the bottom bar (which is overlayed by checkerboard-like inversion patter) flickering during scrolling
2.) http://www.gog.com/u...089a06b6f01.jpg
fog of war on the left, try scrolling again, left edge (where fog of war is) flickering

And yes, this is the reason. Since there are many users with this problem, i think it would be a idea to think about replacing the fog of war texture with another one. For example with not one space between every pixel, but two spaces. Or probably it would be a nice idea to remove this fog completly, and let the enemies just pop out of nowhere if you come closer. :D

Is this somehow possible? :)

Thanks in Advance,

Kulin

I guess it could be possible. If you found the fog texture with near infinity and edited it with bamworkshop.

You mean the fogowar.bam ... easy to find at NearInfinity... 8 frames.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
